Summary
The Coordinator of Student Activities (CSA) is committed to enhancing the overall student experience by providing programming through College Union Activities (CUA), general programming, and Intramurals for the engagement and satisfaction of the campus community. This position serves as the advisor to our CUA board and provides direction, guidance, and training to all student organization leaders and advisors as well as overseeing the College’s recognition and review process. The CSA is also responsible for the planning and execution of a robust intramural program. Building relationships with students that foster leadership and growth is critical to overall success. The CSA is also responsible for all student communication/emails, weekly newsletter of events/happenings, and maintains all general Student Life email accounts. This position has fiduciary responsibility for organizational budgets for CUA, Intramurals, and provides direction regarding budgets for all student organizations. Also serves the campus and alumni in encouraging student involvement in special campus events. The CSA understands and supports the direction of the College and effectively communicates this to student leaders and advisors.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. CUA/Entertainment and Programming:
  • Serves as the advisor to CUA and works closely with CUA Directors in planning, developing and executing a vibrant entertainment and programming schedule for the academic year.
  • Hires and provides supervision to the student CUA Director(s) while working together to recruit and sustain a student CUA committee to assist with programming and entertainment.
  • Helps CUA develop effective marketing plans for events to encourage student participation.
  • Assists in planning the summer CUA retreat and escorts students to any potential conferences.
2. Intramural Program:
  • Builds and sustains a robust Intramurals program by offering quality and creative opportunities for students throughout the academic year.
  • Works through CUA, IFC, Panhellenic, the Athletic Department and Residence Life to market program events.
  • Hires and provides supervision to the student intramural staff.
3. Student Organizations and Activities:
  • Responsible for facilitating the College’s organizational recognition and review process, located in the student handbook, for every campus organization on an annual basis.
  • Provides training and guidance to student leaders, advisors, faculty and staff on calendar/event technology and monthly data collection and reporting.
  • Provides training to organizational leaders and advisors.
4. General Programming:
  • Plan and execute programming of non-CUA events such as student appreciation, Senior Send-Off/Appreciation, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Residential Life staff in programming and event planning to compliment overall campus entertainment/activities.
  • Work closely with the Spirit Coordinator to facilitate Homecoming/Spirit Week events for current students. Lead the student delegation in coordinating the Stocksdale Competition.
5 .Create and deploy advertising and promotion for events and programs using multiple platforms. Ensure communications and promotions for events and programs achieve desired levels of engagement to achieve the targeted level of engagement/involvement in activities.
6. Conduct regular assessment and effectiveness reporting of appropriate/applicable programs as directed by the Dean.
7. Provide support to other office staff in meeting student needs, assisting in student related intervention and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree required; One-two years’ experience in higher education strongly preferred. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and writing skills. Building rapport and meeting with students is a daily activity. Organizational, assessment of programs, planning, and motivational skills are essential. Strong knowledge of technology and various programs are required.
Working Conditions
Normal working/office hours must be maintained to gain student and faculty confidence as to consistent availability. Position entails weekend and evening programming during the academic year.
