Job Title: Coordinator of Esports

Location: Morristown, Tn (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)

Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to develop and oversee a successful electronic sports (esports) gaming program for WSCC. This position will oversee the operations of the esports student team, which will compete in a variety of video gaming competitions.

Essential Job Functions:

• Develop esports schedules, team stats, and budget manager for (fall & spring) esports program.
• Responsible for overall team management, including but not limited to recruitment of student athletes, coordination of team practices, monitoring academic progress of athletes, and preparing team for competition.
• Develops daily practice plan for athletes and ensure that all competition guidelines and NJCAAE and college regulations regarding eligibility and participation are maintained. (fall & spring.)
• Organize and coordinate all team fundraising activities.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Leadership & Supervisory: Manages the Assistant esports Coach (if one is hired) providing daily supervision of matches and practice strategy, recruiting, and esports instruction. Incumbent receives little direct supervision; work is evaluated on short- to intermediate-term results but not on procedures used to accomplish objectives.

Qualifying Job Standards:

Required

• Associate’s degree.
• Working knowledge gained from experience in gaming or a gaming program.
• Strong communication skills and ability to persuade prospective athletes to attend WSCC.
• Experience either coaching or participating in esports/gaming programs.
• Up-to-date knowledge of the NJCAAE rules and regulations.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree.

Environment & Working Conditions: The work environment will vary from moderate noise to greater noise levels while in competition areas playing games or practicing. Temperatures may vary.

Will regularly need to speak, hear, listen, reach, run, walk, and jump. Will need to lift and move equipment necessary for the sport.
