The partnership’s assets include approximately 50,000 miles of pipelines; 260 million barrels of storage capacity for NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals; and 14 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity.
The Marine Personnel Coordinator reports to the Marine Personnel Manager. The Marine Personnel Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Properly crewing his or her assigned towing vessels with qualified U.S. Coast Guard licensed mariners in accordance with each vessel’s Certificate of Inspection as well as all customer requirements and expectations.
  • Preparing for and participating in daily crew change meetings, including but not limited to by inputting and maintaining crew change information sheets in advance of scheduled crew changes.
  • Scheduling and assigning mariners to meet for crew change on the proper crew change date for their vessel.
  • Ensuring that all crew members are assigned to the correct vessel and crew change truck in order to arrive at the crew change location in a timely manner.
  • Scheduling air travel and transportation services for mariners to and from their vessel’s location and/or the airport when necessary.
  • Serving as the primary shore-side contact person for the mariners on his or her assigned vessels.
  • Receiving or otherwise identifying or soliciting mariner complaints, suggestions for improvement, and any other feedback and promptly reporting that information to the Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator.
  • Scheduling, coordinating, and maintaining daily marine personnel mariner lists and schedules.
  • Reporting vacancies to the Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator and working with the Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator to address or otherwise respond to vacancies to meet all customer needs and legal requirements.
  • Rotating and assuming the duties of the on-call Marine Personnel Coordinator with the other Marine Personnel Coordinators and, when directed by the Marine Personnel Manager, the Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator. The Personnel Department must have at least one Marine Personnel Coordinator on call at all times.
  • Inputting and updating information into the HELM payroll system on a daily basis.
  • Tracking and coding days worked and pay rates for all mariners on his or her assigned vessels.
  • Coordinating and assisting other Marine Personnel Coordinators with daily tasks, including but not limited to personnel transfers, vessel assignments, vessel reassignments, route changes, and mariner vacancies.
  • Conducting periodic vessel visits and building professional relationships with mariners to aid in mariner career enhancement, when directed or approved by the Marine Personnel Manager.
  • Assisting the other Marine Personnel Manager, Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator, Safety Department, and Operations Department, if needed, with any problems or issues with vessel personnel.
  • Assisting the Marine Personnel Manager, Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator, Safety Department, and Operations Department if needed, in removing mariners from vessels to seek medical attention or for other reasons, and assisting the removed mariner with proper transportation and lodging if needed.
  • Assisting the Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator in scheduling mariners for training exercises and courses, evaluations, and/or simulator attendance, as well as assisting mariners with lodging and/or transportation during the course or exercise, if needed.
  • Scheduling personnel to assist the Maintenance Department in supplying the vessels with equipment and supplies that may be needed at crew change or otherwise.
  • Assisting mariners who may need to get off his or her vessel due to illness, injury, family emergency, or for any other reason.
  • Participating in and contributing to strategic staff meetings and weekly meetings of the Personnel Department.
  • Participating in and contributing to special projects as needed or directed by the Lead Marine Personnel Coordinator, and/or Marine Personnel Manager.
  • Providing input and ideas for process improvements and the overall betterment of the Personnel Department.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Two (2) + years of experience in the marine industry is preferred.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically for mariner visits and vessel boarding.
  • A valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (T.W.I.C.) is required.
  • A current driver’s license and good driving record is required.
  • Able to communicate clearly, concisely, persuasively, and with confidence in both positive and negative situations.
  • An intermediate level of knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues.
  • Able to work and interact with co-workers, supervisors and managers, field and management employees, regulatory personnel when needed, and contract personnel in a businesslike and professional manner at all times.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adapt to frequent changes in daily work activities, process and complete work timely and correctly, set priorities, work under pressure, and follow through with assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Able to stay organized and work effectively as a team member.
  • Able to meet deadlines on all work assignments.
  • Demonstrates conscientiousness, dependability, and commitment to the role, team, and company.
  • Demonstrated ability to find cost-effective solutions to meet business needs using sound business judgment and discretion is required.
  • Able to troubleshoot issues in an effort to find positive resolutions.
  • Able to ride on ocean-going and inland towing vessels, as needed.
