The Role

The Global Communications team is searching for a talented Communications professional to support its efforts as it drives external awareness and publicity for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.


The Coordinator, External Communications position requires a skilled communicator and offers a high level of organizational exposure and interaction, requiring accountability, poise, and professionalism at all times. Successfully managing and meeting varied and competing deadlines is a must. The role reports to the Senior Director, Global External Communications.


Day-to-day activities include, but may not be limited to: press release drafting and distribution; media research; media list development, media monitoring and reporting; management of industry surveys support of the Company’s corporate website. The role requires close collaboration with Wyndham’s larger Global Communications team and regular interaction with key departments throughout the organization including, Marketing, Development, Global Sales, IT, Operations, Investor Relations and more.


Given the nature of the 24-hour media landscape and the Communications department’s global remit, the position requires the candidate to be flexible and available in the event of crisis situations, company events or timely media inquiries.


The role is remote with the ability to be based in Wyndham’s Parsippany, N.J. headquarters, if desired.

What you'll do

  • Media Relations – Serve as the first point of contact for all inbound media inquiries, managing the department inbox and media hotline. Assist with all press release distribution. Support senior team members with media pitching and inquiry response, including where appropriate, development and management of key consumer and trade media lists.
  • Industry Surveys – Ensure Wyndham is represented accurately in major industry rankings by organizing and managing the Company’s participation in key hotel and travel trade media surveys.
  • Content Creation / Management – Assist with the creation and updating of content for Wyndham’s corporate website, including but not limited to executive biographies, company history, awards, ESG initiatives and more. Create and manage key media materials including Company fact sheets, image libraries and media kits.
  • Media Measurement and Monitoring – Work with senior team members and third-party partners to track and measure earned media. Create and distribute reports for key campaigns and initiatives.
  • Project Support – Support key Communications projects such as executive media training and off-site photo/videoshoots. Provide additional support to senior team members on key campaigns and initiatives as appropriate.

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • High proficiency in social and digital media.
  • WordPress experience a plus.
  • Photoshop/graphic design/video editing/audio editing experience a plus.
  • Experience in travel or hospitality preferred.

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in an External Communications facing role (Corporate or Agency).
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Journalism, English or related field preferred.
