JOB SUMMARY:
Improves plant performance through the use of Lean Manufacturing and 6-Sigma tools, as well as, extensive employee involvement. Trains Management, Supervisors, Event Facilitators and Employees in Lean Manufacturing principles and 6-Sigma tools. Utilizes Value Stream Mapping to identify impediments to meeting annual objectives. Utilizes appropriate CI tools to resolve these issues.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce measurable improvements in plant performance utilizing CI tools, with a focus on waste elimination, employee training and involvement.
  • Interface with Quality, Manufacturing and Process Engineering to develop project list of prioritized Lean Manufacturing events/projects.
  • Utilize plant metrics as a guide to identify operations that require changes to improve overall plant performance. Select appropriate teams and conduct applicable CI events to implement these changes
  • Facilitate cross functional teams focused on key success factors.
  • Train employees and Supervisors in the use of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Facilitators will lead events including: 5-S, Set-up reduction, TPM, Standard Work, Error Proofing, Continuous Flow and Pull Systems.
  • Work with other members of management to plan events and coordinate resources for successful completion of CI events.
  • Participate and support all Process Engineering projects/events.
  • Facilitate large-scale CI events with a focus on Value Stream Management.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation such that improvements are sustained. Documentation may include, but is not limited to Daily PM sheets, Standard Work Sheets, Start-Up / Shut-Down sheets, 5-S auditing, and Cross Training Charts
  • Support new product introduction.
  • Maintain records of CI activities.
  • Use Quality System and controlled documentation to ensure that gains are sustained.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required. The successful candidate will be a team builder with solid interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. The ability to engage and motivate employees is a must.
  • 5 years of CI related experience including event leadership and participation.
  • Must be fluent in MS Office applications including spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software and databases.
  • Ability to become certified as a 6-Sigma green belt.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Six Sigma certification as a Green or Black belt is preferred.
  • Manufacturing Supervisory background.
  • Upbeat, driven personality.
  • Understanding of DMAIC and PDCA models.
