OPPORTUNITY: We are a folding carton manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Continuous Improvement Department as a CI Assistant. CI ASSISTANT SUMMARY:

Direct the Quality and Continuous Improvement Process for the GPI facility. This involves the development, implementation, and preservation of the validity of the Quality System, the proper allocation of available capital to equipment and processes which move the business forward, and the identification of personnel training requirements relative to new equipment and processes. The major objective is to improve the people and processes to remove cost from the system and to improve our product quality so that we are more competitive in the marketplace and our business grows.

Primary Responsibilities are, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide hands-on quality assurance support with a focus on commitment to quality and continual improvement of GPI QMS
  • Open and process customer/supplier claims including maintaining the complaints database records and documentation
  • Review customer claim status and product disposition, performing RCCA and problem-solving investigations using Lean tools and principals
  • Manage customer and supplier notification and communications
  • Assist with SQF daily/weekly/monthly monitoring and audits
  • Populate COA, certification certificates, and letters
  • Complete supplier and customer surveys, documentation requests, and audits
  • Conduct Mix Prevention/SQF and HACCP Training annually
  • Update VOC and quality communication boards
  • Perform housekeeping, safety, and SQF internal audits
  • Check the workflow of sorting to ensure that the goals for the day are being met
  • Competency and awareness of SQF, HACCP, and cGMP standards
  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures
  • Audit processes and critical control point standards on the production floor
  • Monitor quality in process on respective shift, including quality hold and corrective actions
  • Communicate with supervisors and management of chronic failure to comply with procedures through email and meetings
  • Create customer invoices and manually enter credits after approvals
  • Maintain and monitor CID control documents
  • Complete end-of-shift emails reviewing all major issues that occurred on shift with applicable data
  • Identify and quarantine defective finished goods in the quality hold area and perform disposition
  • Support production in identifying and quarantining all suspect supplier material in inventory
  • Responsible for maintaining production areas, QA lab/hold office up to GMP, SQF, and HCCP standards
  • Ongoing documentation review of all forms and documents for GMP assuring control of documents and records
  • Champion for continuous improvement during the shift; attending stand-downs, conducting CA training, and coaching

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • 1-2 years of quality inspector experience
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Superior time management, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills
  • Advanced PC skills

WORK SCHEDULE:

Employees are required to work an 8-hour (M-F) schedule including weekends PRN.

Occasional overtime is required to include 12 hour-shifts.
