Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team and spend approximately 80% of your time interacting with the project construction management team and contractors, as well as with all levels of site personnel responsible for directing daily activity of contractor personnel. In this role, you will also communicate with the Project Construction Management Team, Project Managers, GEC EHS Manager, Site EHS and project personnel to evaluate Construction Contractor Safety effectiveness and needs.

Travel for this position could be up to 50% of the time, depending on specific assignments, such as a single large or several mid-size projects at multiple locations.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

As a Construction EHS Specialist you create chemistry by…

• You will drive BASF EHS Excellence during construction and TAR execution by monitoring contractor safety programs, increasing contractor’s safety awareness, and assisting the project team and site in the realization of its EHS goals.
• You will receive broad and limited direction from the GEC EHS Manager and the Director of Project Management, Construction and TAR.
• You will frequently interact with project, construction, and construction/TAR contractor personnel responsible for directing the activity of construction contractors. You will also be involved in local contractor safety conferences and forums, as well as periodically attend the contractor companies’ safety meetings where appropriate.
• You will engage co-workers, contractors, and supervision in discussions related to contractor safety topics and work with personnel to improve contractor safety culture in a non-confrontational manner, while ensuring compliance with BASF and project EHS requirements and principals.

Your formula for success…

• 2 or 4 year degree in a related field or an accredited certification (CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, etc.) and 2 years’ experience in Construction Field Occupational Health and Safety Supervision
• Leadership and team building skill
• Communication skills and strategic thinking
