Construction Inspector

Under the direction of the Town Engineer, the Construction Inspector assists in engineering functions by conducting inspections of construction projects, monitoring conformance with plans, communicating regularly with contractors, gathering field data measurements, and assessing construction progress, scheduling, and costs.

Position Overview:

· Oversees construction projects by monitoring conformance with design plans, specifications, and Town codes, collecting and analyzing data from field conditions.

· Oversees contractors on jobs, discusses procedures to be followed by the contractors and makes recommendations for final acceptance.

· Reviews plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, and construction schedules.

· Prepares daily reports and organizes project documents.

· Reviews invoices and change orders for accuracy and completeness.

· Contacts individuals and contractors about compliance issues.

· Ensures stormwater compliance by performing site inspections for erosion and sediment control compliance.

· Prepares and submits various compliance reports to state regulators.

· Conducts site inspections and collects field measurements to assess necessary maintenance and make recommendations for Town infrastructure improvements.

· Attends meetings, conferences, seminars, committee, and council meetings as required.

· Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.

· Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction management, land development, or engineering. Experience also must include experience working with construction management contractors.

· Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the essential job functions of this position.

Licenses and Certifications:

· A valid driver’s license.

Salary ranges from $55,000 - $60,000 a year
