Position Title: Estimator
Reports to: Project Executive
UIP General Contracting (UIPGC) has an exciting opportunity for an Estimator to join our growing team. This position reports directly to the Project Executive and is responsible for assisting with the organization of all preconstruction activity and ensuring clear communication about factors of production that will influence the cost of a service or project. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with prior residential construction experience.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage and review all bid documents and develop a complete scope of work, including labor, materials, and time budgets
  • Prepare bid documents including requests for proposals (RFPs), Invite to Bid, and Scope of Work for release to subcontractors
  • Submit requests for information for any discrepancies or missing information in the bid documents
  • Properly review and evaluate all subcontractor proposals to ensure they have full scope and correct quantities
  • Develop a bid budget by encapsulating all project costs including subcontractor bids, material costs, equipment costs, insurance requirements, and overhead and profit margins
  • Review total estimate to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation
  • Leverage vendor relationships to ensure the best pricing for projects
  • Monitor comparison of estimate cost to actual project materials costs
  • Submit and complete accurate bids by company and project deadlines
  • Maintain accurate, complete and updated project plans, specifications, correspondence and estimating documentation on projects, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, Bachelor’s in Construction Management or Engineering a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential construction, construction management, and/or renovation estimating or project management
  • Experience in reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in writing detailed RFPs, Invitations to Bid and detailed Scopes of Work
  • Prepare detailed budgets and estimates
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Solution-focused attitude and strong problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, oral and written
  • Self-motivated and self-directed; comfortable working independently and on a team
  • Proficient in MS Office to create spreadsheets, budgets, and proposals
  • Experience with Procore a plus
