THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION

Job Title: Computer Support Specialist

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide hardware and software system administration on all personal computers, fax machines, scanners, satellite receivers, printers and other peripherals critical to proper function of Moody AFB ETS technology systems.
  • Promptly contact the appropriate 23d FSS Information Technology (IT) Department for any issues related to system network outages that may affect proper functioning of servers, switches, and routers.
  • Provide maintenance of Moody AFB ETS link to Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS) on the Moody Web Page; update links, build pages, link appropriate documents and databases, manage layout and meet any other requirements specified by the Chief, ETS, to ensure quality of web page and how it integrates with Air the Force Virtual Education (AFVEC) web site.
  • Implement any new systems (software/hardware) as required by the Chief, ETS; set-up new Computers and other information systems in a timely manner to support gradual improvement of the ETS and testing facilities. This may require you to move or remove/assemble furniture.
  • Provide all networking architecture recommendations and networking support to improve the ETS network as directed by the Chief, ETS.
  • Establish procedures for safeguarding all critical data, and design back-up methodology to guarantee uninterrupted service to customers.
  • Develop a tracking system to (including all required documentation) monitor all information systems, and establish a diagram of the facilities, with the associated database to track fixes with the implementation of information systems.
  • Provide for safe migration of important data from one system to another, and install and maintain the Education Center primary database. Conduct upgrades to the database and provide training to ETS personnel.
  • Provide recommendations to Chief, ETS, for future planning and improvements to the existing information systems structure for the facilities.
  • Assist Chief, ETS, in research and purchase of all information systems and components required to improve existing structure.
  • Provide for proper information security on all systems, and educate personnel on proper security procedures to protect sensitive data and records.
  • Train office personnel on how to use the required software, so that they can execute their jobs more efficiently.
  • Perform any other critical system support as requested by the Chief, ETS, for successful operation of the ETS technology.
  • Perform as the alternate equipment custodian for all ETS equipment, conduct an annual inventory, and forward to the Chief, ETS, and the Communications Squadron (CS). Conduct inventory and account for all new equipment within 72 hours of receipt and ensure all accountable items are added to the ETS ADPE listing.
  • In the event of an emergency (total system disabled, etc.), the Contractor shall respond within four (4) hours from the time of call/request by the Chief, ETS.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Candidate must have a proven minimum of one year current experience with certifications in both the hardware and software applications: A+ and Security+.
  • Experience with (AFAEMS), the customer sign in tool, and testing updates from Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) Windows Private Desktop System, My Learning Career Development Course (CDC) Assessment System, and other updates as necessary is desired but not mandatory. "Current" experience is defined as any experience within the past 5 years.
  • Candidate’s qualifying documentation shall demonstrate the minimum one year experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills and verbal communication skills are essential; appropriate related professional work or volunteer experience of at least one (1) year is highly desirable; knowledge of and/or experience with computer/network security is mandatory.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Capability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess and maintain all required training and certifications.
  • US Citizen

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • Favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) kept throughout the entirety of the contract.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment:

  • The Chief, ETS and the Contractor may mutually agree to specific work elements/schedules that must be performed to assist in the standard day-to-day operation.
  • The Contractor shall work 80 hours per month, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (0730-1230); exact days and times of services may be jointly determined by the Contractor and the Government in advance, and may be modified by mutual agreement according to any changing program needs.
  • The contractor must inform the ETS Chief of anticipated absences at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to scheduled absence except in emergency situations. Non-emergency leave of one (1) week or more must be scheduled with the ETS Chief at least two (2) weeks in advance and may not exceed two (2) weeks at a time with a maximum of four (4) weeks in one (1) fiscal year.
  • Hours may not be worked on Federal holidays, when the office is closed, or outside the standard work hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • Position generally requires light work with occasional lifting of up to (30) pounds or more, carrying supplies, equipment.
  • The job requires varying amounts of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with an excellent comprehension of the English language is essential.
  • Work is generally performed in an indoor setting.

Travel:

Travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) to support tasks and requirements may be required.
