SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking a Community Solar Project Developer to lead the development of distributed energy resource projects in California. The ideal candidate will have more than 3 years of solar or energy storage industry experience with direct responsibility for strategic market segmentation, identification and pursuit of property owners, acquisition of site control, and project development. The individual hired to fulfill this role will lead the origination and development of ground, rooftop and other types of community solar, commercial and industrial-scale solar, integrated energy storage, and electric vehicle charging projects.

The Project Developer will be reporting into the Director, Business Development. We are accepting candidates throughout the state of CA, and supporting remote work. There will be 30-50% travel throughout the state, specifically in Central Valley.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all phases of project development of distributed energy resources (solar power, battery energy storage, and electric vehicle charging systems), from origination to pre-construction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Site origination, site control negotiation, project permitting, utility interconnection, and tax agreement negotiation.
  • Crafting a compelling value proposition that reflects programmatic bill credits, avoided cost, load profile, applicable tariffs, and layered revenue streams
  • Close coordination with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies.
  • Development of long-term relationships with site owners, energy users and other project stakeholders.
  • Effective communication with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives.
  • Active management of development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective projects.
  • Management of external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities.
  • Fostering support from state, county and local governments, community groups, and abutters.
  • Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
  • Development of sales presentations, proposals, and other materials as needed to support project development efforts.
  • Occasional travel is required; some evening and weekend work required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player. Key qualifications as follows:

  • Three or more years of solar energy industry experience in the primary business development role.
  • A successful track record leading development of multiple =>1MW solar projects.
  • Integration of solar and energy storage systems.
  • Prospecting and business model understanding of commercial real estate, public agencies' planning and permitting authorities, and energy service providers.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective team member and collaborator.

Per California Law, Nexamp, Inc. discloses that the reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $80,000-$125,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company's stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
