About the position:

Good Beginnings is looking for an Outreach & Intake Specialist!!

This position is responsible for recruiting potential participants for Good Beginnings home visiting program and provides comprehensive home-visiting services and parent education to 1st and 2nd time, at-risk pregnant families. The worker must be a self-starter who is comfortable with public speaking and working with providers in the community to maintain the programs capacity. The Outreach Specialist is responsible for presenting program services in a variety of settings and completing intake packets at time of opening, as well as having a small caseload of their own depended on capacity of program. The position will increase visibility of the programs by attending community events, networking with referrals sources and engaging interested participants. Additionally, this position requires flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evening and weekend hours. This positions requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask to develop positive relationships with both professionals and participants.

Job Function:

This position is responsible for recruitment and engagement of participants in the Good Beginnings program by promoting relationships with referral sources, meeting with families to enroll them and providing comprehensive home visiting parent education to 1st and 2nd time, at risk pregnant women. Uses community resources to provide linkage and support to program participants and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, child development or human service-related field is required.
  • Experience in public speaking, community development and/or working with at-risk families, young children, and prenatal families is preferred
  • Knowledge of normal child growth/development and parent-child relationships
  • Ability to relate to families from a strength-based model
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as an active team member
  • Demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in children and family services
  • Ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic and confidential manner
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Hearing and speaking ability to allow for effective oral communication of information
  • Physical and emotional stamina to handle job related issues
  • Ability to transport self and clients to various locations
