Located in the heart of the Baltimore/Washington corridor, Prince George’s County borders Washington D.C. and is just 37 miles south of the city of Baltimore. Prince George’s County Department of Office of Community Relations is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Community Liaison position, grade G-24 within the Division of TNI/Community Affairs. This is senior level professional position.

The Community Liaison will perform a variety of assignments in the areas of
community liaison/ development/advocacy or social services work among client populations (e.g., youth, aged, community action, housing development, health, etc.).

Incumbents may perform the more complex community development assignments subject to extensive public contact.

Work is performed under the general supervision of a Community Developer IV or other designated official. Work performance is reviewed in terms of production, timeliness, and the successful completion of assignments.

Examples of Work

  • Participates as a member of a community development research and planning team involving in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing aggregates of data relating to such programs as housing, education, economic, aging, youth services, health services, etc.
  • Assists in the development of operational plans for a large variety of social, economic and health related programs.
  • Performs site visits and prepares narrative reports on such visits.
  • Assists in determining long and short-range goals and objectives for community development related programs.
  • Assists in collecting research information and analyzing data to tract trends.
    Provides resources to constituents and other assistance required in assigned program.
  • Performs complex senior level assignments in programmatic areas.
  • May lead a group of subordinate personnel engaged in collecting and analyzing socio-economic and other pertinent data relative to local, state, or federal community development related programs.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets for the assigned flagship program or initiative.
    Participates in the review of regulations and rules to ensure local, state and/or federal programs are being operated in compliance and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Assists in the development of financial accounting and management systems as they related to specific programs.
  • Serves as liaison between the assigned division/department and other agencies/community organizations.
  • Meets with community leaders to discuss community needs and concerns.
  • Participates as a team member in more complex community development studies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree with major course work in business or public administration, social service, sociology, psychology, or related fields.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years plus of responsible community development supervisory work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon selection, the candidate must:

  • The incumbent typically works in offices, however, travel to attend events and visit meeting sites during and after-hours.
  • Evening and weekend work expected.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time and lift to 30 pounds.
