Charleston Animal Society is hiring for a Community Cat Coordinator (TNR Project) in Florence County.

The physical location will be at Florence County Enviormental Services.

Job Summary:

The Community Cat Coordinator provides on-the-ground support of the Florence Area Community Cat Project goals by coordinating the TVAR (Trap-Vaccinate-Alter-Return) of community cats with Project partner organizations and the public. This will include taking phone calls/in-person requests, providing information about the spay/neuter programs, setting up surgery appointments, and recruiting volunteers to trap feral cats for lifesaving vaccines and S/N appointments.

Working Relationships will be with various management groups and staff at Florence Area Community Cat Project partner organizations, No Kill SC staff, veterinary staff, members of the public, volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

· Adhere to the highest ethical standards and provisions of animal care.

· Represent Charleston Animal Society, No Kill South Carolina, and Florence Area Community Cat Project with the highest level of professionalism at all times.

· Work harmoniously and effectively in a positive, non-judgmental manner with staff and volunteers of all Project participant shelters, as well as members of the public.

· Provide TVAR support to the public who have community cat situations via phone, email, and in person.

Coordinate Project activities such as:

1. Working with Environmental Services staff to identify trapping locations and schedules promotion of the program.

2. Scheduling spay/neuter surgeries with members of the public.

3. Identifying hotspot locations for trapping.

4. Managing trap banks.

5. Maintain records or project activities according to established procedures.

6. Compile and reports project data as requested.

7. Participate in project development and planning

8. Participate in scheduling, promoting, processing registration for, and conducting educational workshops for public and volunteers

Qualifications:

· Must have ability to handle inflammatory situations with both clients and staff to bring conflicts to a mutual resolution.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to prioritize, organize, and carry out work tasks.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Skilled in active listening and information gathering.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· General computer skills required.

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Valid South Carolina Driver’s License and excellent driving record required.

· Prior experience working with animals a plus but not required.

Additional Information:

· Physical requirements include but not limited to, walking, standing and moving of animals and equipment (ability to lift 50 pounds).

· Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

· Occasional local travel required.

· Primary schedule includes weekdays but may include weekends and/or evenings as appropriate.

· Florence County Environmental Services offices, offsite trapping locations, offsite community events.

· Position is available thanks to generous grant funding by Best Friends Animal Society as part of their Shelter Collaborative initiative.

· Project is funded and planned to continue through December 31, 2023.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.50 per hour
