GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Communications Supervisor will have a highly visible role with senior leadership and touch nearly all content published on behalf of the organization. The Communications Supervisor will write clear, concise, engaging copy and be able to easily vary writing styles depending on the audience. This position will write, self-edit, and proof to ensure information is factually and grammatically correct. The duties of this role will be diverse and multi-faceted, therefore excellent professional skills are vital.
The Communications Supervisor will work as a part of a small, cross-functional Marketing and Communications team and report to the Marketing and Communications Director. The primary responsibilities will be to develop and drive the communications strategy and content for internal and external audiences.

REPORTS TO: Marketing and Communications Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Internal Communications – 40%

  • Build and implement a multi-channel communications strategy to engage employees and strengthen the company’s culture, including email, intranet, press releases, social media, and other communications mediums.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and make recommendations to improve results.
  • Write and design corporate communications such as weekly e-newsletters, monthly provider e-newsletters and frequent ad-hoc organizational updates.
  • Create and edit content for the intranet site partnering with internal stakeholders to define a strategy for their respective department pages.
  • Work with other Marketing and Communications team members to integrate efforts and align on department initiatives.

Patient Communications – 30%

  • Partner with leaders and key stakeholders to develop and implement a strategic communications plan across all patient demographics.
  • Actively engage, cultivate, and manage press relationships, and manage earned media placements.
  • Oversee copy for company website and social media channels, developing engagement strategies and content for each and managing ongoing updates.
  • Create and manage all patient-facing communications including provider biographies, forms and disclaimers, and instruction materials.
  • Research and gather information on industry news, competitors, and healthcare trends to share updates with the organization.
  • Develop print, web, and video advertising copy to include scripting, headlines and body copy that require catchy copywriting

Corporate Development – 20%

  • Oversee the development of high-quality print and email communications collateral.
  • Support leadership with their communications and development of materials, including but not limited to developing PowerPoint presentations (including design), briefs, and organizing collateral.
  • Contribute to external event plans to include industry conferences, corporate stewardship events, and prospect cultivation opportunities.
  • Marketing Communications Miscellaneous – 10%
  • Assist in company culture and employee recognition initiatives that could include complex on-site activation and gift coordination
  • Partner with advertising agency to develop SEO and website copy to increase online search relevancy
  • Other duties as assigned

Communications Supervisor Skills:

  • Strong, versatile copywriting skills with a portfolio that showcases past work
  • Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages, and aligns with organizational strategy
  • Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needs shift
  • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Possesses a sense of urgency; is self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Good verbal presentation, group dynamic, and facilitation skills
  • Proactive approach to resolving problems and issues

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years of experience in internal communications, marketing communications, or corporate communications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a similar discipline preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred

Communications Supervisor must have:

  • Communicate clearly with patients, clients, and coworkers through the telephone, email, and in-person.
  • Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated.
  • Work under pressure; assess, respond to, and communicate issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain composure and set a professional example for coworkers.
  • Interpret and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Travel as business needs require.
