As a company, we are dedicated to creating the smallest carbon footprint on the world. Currently our Grand Junction, IA Ethanol plant is seeking a Commodity Handler to join our team. The Commodity Handler loads and unloads products at a dry mill ethanol plant. Primary functions are operating locomotives, moving railcars, and loading trucks and railcars with product. Also responsible for complying with all applicable Company and government regulations.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Completes a Conductor Level 1 ground employee proficiency examination in 3 months,
• Completes a Conventional Locomotive Operator Level 2 proficiency examination in 3 months,
• Operates and inspects Locomotive to move rail cars in yard to meet unit deadlines and loading expectations,
• Completes Hazardous Materials shipping certification course annually,
• Operates and inspect all rolling stock and Grain equipment daily to ensure department asset reliability,
• Understanding of the locomotive operation and rail switching rules manual and rail safety in compliance with FRA guidelines,
• Loads Ethanol into rail tank cars in order to ensure timely delivery of Unit Trains and Manifest,
• Loads DDGS into hopper cars in order to ensure timely delivery of Unit Trains and Manifest,
• Loads final product into trucks (Ethanol, DDGS, wet cake) in order to ensure timely delivery of products,
• Inspects material handling equipment and performs routine adjustments and minor maintenance as needed,
• Reports any equipment issues to the Commodities Manager in a timely fashion and add work orders in EPAC in a timely fashion and provide detailed troubleshooting,
• Complies with Company safety rules and policies as well as, and
• wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Additional Responsibilities:

Ensures work area is kept clean and free from safety hazards, report any discrepancies immediately,

• Actively participates in Shift/Team activities including complying with best practices, standard operating procedures, development, maintenance and continuous improvement efforts, incident analysis and problem solving, and
• Accepts/carries out/completes other duties as assigned by the Commodities Manager.

Working Conditions:

Continuous 24/7 plant operation with 12-hour shifts as directed by the Commodities Manager, as well as off-shift call-in requirements when needed. Regular exposure to a variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions; regular exposure to gases, vapors, dust, and odors; occasional exposure to areas with wet floors and high volume of noise. Heavy lifting of manufacturing materials and products is required. Position will require regular stair climbing and extended periods of walking and standing in order to access and occasionally work in remote areas of the plant, heights and confined spaces. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be worn in compliance with Company standards and government regulations. Extensions of regular working hours are occasionally necessary to complete time-sensitive projects or to respond to emergencies.
