Overview:
The Commercial Real Estate Banker effectively manages a business loan portfolio while referring prospective business and individual clients to internal business partners. Develops and maintains long term business relationships with clients.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage loan and deposit relationships by monitoring use of bank products, creditworthiness, repayment activities and changes in the client’s company, industry or business model.
  • Analyze clients’ needs; assess the client’s financial position and credit worthiness to ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship is in compliance with established credit policy, procedure and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist in the completion of annual loan reviews on each credit in the assigned portfolio.
  • Make critical decisions regarding credit risk supported by substantial analysis and critical data based decision making.
  • Make recommendations on terms, structure loan financing costs, repayment methods, collateral requirements and rates based on risk considerations and present credits for approval.
  • Monitor loan repayment activities and financial condition of borrowing clients and take necessary action to collect past due accounts and ongoing repayment ability of all other accounts.
  • Meet or exceed goals related to retaining and broadening existing client relationships through execution of business development strategies and plans.
  • Maximize Bank profitability through appropriate pricing of new loan originations, fee income and selling of all bank products and services and referring business accordingly.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all bank products and actively cross-sell deposit, trade, treasury management, foreign exchange, private banking, asset management and other services to our existing client base as well as prospects.
  • Analyze, synthesize and communicate complex financial and industry data in an accurate, objective and straightforward manner.
  • Build trusted, collaborative and supporting relationships with external clients, internal business partners, key resources and strategic partners.
  • Use and understand technology necessary to collect, retain, analyze and report critical, requisite information.
  • Effectively communicate throughout all levels within the Bank in written, verbal and presentation formats.
  • Participate in business and community organizations and regularly attend networking events.
  • Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service.
  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with employees, clients and vendors.
  • Represent the Bank and Real Estate Banking team in a highly professional manner when working with other employees, clients, and vendors.
  • Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
  • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations and industry best practices.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.
Qualifications:
  • At least two (2) years of commercial banking, underwriting or portfolio management and structuring experience.
  • Formal credit training.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking products and services including credit analysis, underwriting and treasury management products and services.
  • Demonstrated strong financial acumen and high level of problem solving skills.
  • Effective communicator, results oriented, demonstrates the ability to excel in high-pressure situations.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate long term relationships and influence others internally and externally.
  • Bachelor’s degree with exposure to Finance, Business or Economics courses is preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • An advanced degree and/or ongoing banking seminars and other resources is highly preferred.
