JOB SUMMARY

POET Biofuels is a global leader in the energy and agricultural space. We started as a supplier of fuel ethanol, and have grown into a multi-commodity marketing and transportation company providing solutions in fuels, grains, and carbon dioxide markets.

POET Biofuels is seeking a Commercial Market Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player, self-starter with an entrepreneurial mind set, and strong communication and critical-thinking skills.

As a Commercial Market Analyst, you will work directly with our commercial marketing teams, and Logistics and Planning teams. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining, evolving and building analytical models and mental model frameworks to support various commodity divisions (e.g., carbon dioxide, denaturant, natural gas, etc) within POET.

DURING A TYPICAL DAY

- Building and running market related dashboard material to distribute out to your team.

- Thinking of ways to improve current processes by utilizing technology and seeking feedback from your customer base.

- Challenging current and establishing new mental model frameworks to help drive commercial strategy.

- Point-of-view development for short-term and long-term strategy; frame, communicate and seek feedback.

- Building fundamental supply and demand models for current forecast and alternative scenarios.

- Work with commercial and logistics teams to utilize analysis to deliver actionable value-add activities.

- Performing ad-hoc analysis and knowledge systems on short notice to help your team capitalize on rapid changes in the market place.

- Driving continuous improvement in data aggregation, industry information and visualization

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

- You have a bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, or Mathematics.

- You have advanced competencies of Microsoft’s Office Suite and are capable of learning new programs.

- You have experience with analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, VBA, SQL, and/or R programming.

- You are a life-long learner and express a high sense of curiosity.

- You express intellectual honesty and integrity in everything that you do.

- You have a strong analytical and quantitative skill set.

- You excel in verbal, written, and visual communications.

- You can problem solve with good critical-thinking and an economic thought process.

- You are comfortable with minimal supervision and minimal structure to your day.

- You adapt well to a constantly changing environment.

- You understand basic financial and economic concepts.
