Job Title: Commercial Specialist Assets Portfolio and Credit Analytics Specialist
Reports To: Senior Risk Officer
Direct Reports: N/A
Salary Grade: 9/9A

SUMMARY
This position has two major responsibilities:
  • Provides the Commercial Special Assets Officers with the following support to include analyzing financial performance, drafting proposals, reviewing documents, reviewing requests for loan modification and preparing recommendations for approval along with administrative and portfolio management support.
  • Serves as a backup to the Credit Information Manager in the preparation of non-performing asset projections, OREO projections, quarterly 114 Impairment Analysis Reports, quarterly Criticized Asset Reports (“CAR”), Charge-Off and Recovery projections and other asset quality forecasting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree with course work in finance and accounting preferred
  • Not less than 5 years of work experience related to various aspects of credit analysis, loan review, special assets, or commercial lending preferred
  • Possess a general knowledge of credit policy, banking regulations, and loan documentation issues
  • Possess knowledge of various loan structures and has the ability to apply this knowledge in the formulation of sound credit recommendations
  • Must be able to analyze complex financial statements; gather relevant information systematically; consider a broad range of issues or factors; and grasps complexities and perceive relationships among problems or issues.
  • Knowledge of bank loan and accounting systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of general credit administration activities.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Microsoft Access skills required
  • Ability to learn and work in multi-dimensional database structures.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written, one-on-one and in groups
  • Ability to develop and maintain a cohesive and cooperative working relationship with peers, subordinates and superiors along with legal counsel and clients.

  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Work with the Commercial Special Asset Officers to manage all aspects of problem asset management to including documentation reviews, credit analysis, past dues monitoring, ordering and review of appraisals, borrowing base monitoring, covenant compliance, CARs, collateral exceptions, and other portfolio management activities
  • Assist the Commercial Special Assets Officers in the identification and analysis of problem credits and the development of action plans for these borrowers.
  • Serves as a member of the Commercial Special Assets “Deal Team” in the determination of workout strategies
  • Actively participate and assist in all aspects problem asset management including working with legal counsel, joint calling, structuring Forbearance Agreements, and preparation of credit approval packages
  • Serve as secondary contact on client relationships
  • Prepare workout documentation and review loan documents
  • Perform loan documentation research using applicable bank systems
  • Perform real estate and personal property tax searches
  • Assemble and verify accuracy of loan documentation
  • Provide loan documentation to attorneys for their review
  • Maintenance of the loan system with data updates
  • Work exceptions and past due loans and financial ticklers
  • Monitors the requirements of Forbearance Agreements
  • Monitors appraisal requirements on workout relationships
  • Spread, analyze, and interpret complex business and personal financial statements and tax returns
  • Monitors reports to include overdrafts, past dues, foreclosure and non-performing assets.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of individual requests and make recommendations to address and mitigate perceived risks
  • Prepare and present credit analysis packages through the credit approval chain with limited supervision
  • Assist with report preparation related to Non-Performing Assets, OREO, Charge-Offs and Recoveries, and other asset quality forecasting, as needed.
  • Work closely with Senior Risk Officers, Senior Credit Officers, Regional Credit Managers, and Special Assets teams to prepare and maintain status updates in a database used in bi-monthly NPA meetings and in overall quarterly projections provided to Management
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly Criticized Asset Reports.
  • Participates in the bi-weekly NPA Meetings and Quarterly CAR Reviews

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not manage people.
