SUMMARY: Our Industrial Boiler Technicians are field technicians, who will work with numerous system parts and mechanisms, to maintain, diagnose and correct system problems. This includes replacing parts and adjusting controls for better performance, performing maintenance and tear downs for boiler inspectors, and working with our certified welders on tube replacements and other R Stamp repairs. Equipment and systems will be commercial and industrial in nature and will be for both process and heating applications. Our clients include manufacturing facilities, schools, healthcare facilities, and other businesses that have large boilers and burners. We service all major brands of boilers and burners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare boilers for inspection by state certified inspectors
  • Tuning and troubleshooting natural gas, propane, oil, and dual fuel burners.
  • Repair and maintenance on steam systems and boilers up to 200 psi
  • Repair and maintenance on boiler systems up to 1000 HP
  • Ability to promote and follow building, job site and department procedures and policies
  • Ability to perform math computations needed in the trade
  • Maintain records and logs for all assigned equipment
  • Follow Service SOP procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
  • Abide by HB McClure guideline as set forth in the Company Handbook
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator o Perform work within OSHA guidelines
  • Utilize proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
  • Maintain clean organized and mechanically sound company provided service vehicle
  • Ability to read blue prints and understand cut sheets
  • Repair and maintenance on condensate systems, DA tanks and associated pumps and systems
  • Obey Department Uniform and Appearance Policy
  • Comply with NFPA 70E regulations
  • Knowledge of trade related tools needed for job applying
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in area of all certifications
  • Operating knowledge of HVAC systems and efficient use of trade tools required for hire
  • Ability to obtain trade related hand tools needed for job applying

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D.
  • Equivalent technical school or work experience
  • Five or more years of experience in related trade
  • Thorough understanding of control circuit troubleshooting
  • Experience with advanced boiler control systems (Siemens, Auto flame, etc.) is a plus
  • Criminal background check required for hire o Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
