Collections Specialist Overview:
The primary purpose of the Collections Specialist position is to review delinquent accounts to determine the best way to approach clients, and then execute a plan to bring in the maximum amount of revenue. This position requires the ability to strike a balance between maintaining trustful relationships and facilitating timely payments.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • High degree of integrity required with the ability to deal with sensitive or confidential customer information.
  • Research and analyze accounts prior to initiating debtor contact, examines historical data, evaluates past collection efforts.
  • Determine most effective and economical means of collection for each account; apply standard due diligence practices to collect outstanding balances; compose correspondence requiring knowledge of procedures and practices in collections; send a variety of standard collection letters.
  • Maintain files on all past due accounts, documenting details of methods utilized to secure payment.
  • Utilize available resources and research techniques to ascertain locations and contact information for past due accounts.
  • Contact client and establish reason for past due account situation; make payment arrangements to bring account current and execute appropriate follow-ups to ensure obligation is satisfied.
  • Be accessible to clients to discuss changing financial situations documenting material information; restructures or revises payment terms within well-established limits and procedures after Partner and Collections Manager approval.
  • Ensure accurate posting of payments related to collection agreements.
  • Post approved A/R write offs timely and accurately.
  • Compile information and prepare a variety of reports on collection activities as needed.
  • After collections efforts are exhausted, turn over delinquent accounts to CFO for further handling and final determinations.

Who You Are (Requirements)

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem solving, customer service and analytical skills required.
  • Skilled in evaluating information or situation and making judgments based on facts.
  • Creative, self-disciplined and capable of working independently and with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to multi-task, handle various matters at the same time, emergency requests on short notice and complete deadlines in a timely manner.
