Role Overview

Norgren has a proud history of creating innovative engineering solutions in precise motion control and fluid technology, and we collaborate with our customers across more than 50 countries in critical areas such as Factory Automation, Material Handling, Rail, Energy, Process Control, Life Science and Commercial Vehicles.

Provide accurate and objective First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections. Detect, report and quarantine non-conforming parts immediately to reduce waste. Actively participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation efforts.

Work Location: Plymouth, MN

Work Hours: 5:00am – 1:30pm, Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete inspections of machined parts to ensure parts compliance to stated tolerance and quality standards.
  • Maintain ownership of departmental quality performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all inspection processes and inspection equipment within the Machine Shop.
  • Proactively communicate with department leadership, QA, Engineering and manufacturing personnel immediately when nonconformances are discovered. Create plans to control, sort and rework non-conforming parts.
  • Collaborate with Machine Shop Leadership, QA, Engineering, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information and ensure proper function.
  • Record First Article set-up performance data while always being fair and objective when measuring and recording successful and failed inspections.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and cleaning of inspection equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace following principles of 5S
  • Follow all safety rules regarding machine operations and proper guarding.
  • Follow all policies and procedures per the IMI Norgren Policy Manual, Quality Management System, ISO 9001, Quality Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Program.
  • Complete other tasks including but not limited to continuous improvement activities, root cause investigations, and supporting other departments as assigned.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Minimum 2-5 years of quality inspection or CNC machining experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality systems (nonconformances, inspection equipment, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of all inspection equipment used in the Machine Shop.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering drawings and inspection documentation.
  • Understanding and use of trigonometry.
  • Ability to multi-task through time management and organizational skills to follow through on daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to read, write in English, comprehend and follow work instructions and prepare production reports.
  • Good manual dexterity and visual acuity with high attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring standing for extended periods of time, walking, lifting up to 40lbs, bending, and stooping.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
