ASAP Solutions, an ACS Company, is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer on a direct hire basis for a client based in Piscataway, NJ. Work schedule is a Hybrid model with 3 days in the office per week. Cloud Systems Engineer - Piscataway, NJ (Hybrid) $115K

The overall purpose of this position is to develop and support cloud-based infrastructure services, mostly with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for design, development, installation, and management of cloud-based systems and services through automation and adherence to best practices. Must also be able to support a Hybrid IT model. The role typically reports to the Cloud Strategy Director and has no direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages cloud computer, storage, and other cloud services.
  • Creates automation for provisioning, decommissioning services, and security patching.
  • Understands and contributes solutions within existing hybrid IT architecture, along with identifying opportunities to reduce existing data center footprint through cloud-based solutions.
  • Estimates cloud infrastructure costs and implements cost optimization mechanisms.
  • Proactively stays abreast of new cloud offerings and services.
  • Works with internal IT teams as well as customers outside of IT to assure quality project delivery and ongoing support.
  • Implement and document system monitoring and fault detection processes, backup and recovery processes, and appropriate service affecting notification mechanisms for IT staff and specific business system service owners.
  • Maintains technical documentation for support and disaster recovery needs.
  • Meets or exceeds SLAs on resolving open help desk incidents or requests.
  • Creates automation for provisioning, decommissioning services, and security patching.
  • Is responsible for maintaining effective operation of cloud platforms and databases as modifications are made to the operating system and the application systems.
  • Reviews and advises development personnel on application programming and transaction processing techniques.
  • Exercises proper judgement regarding cloud operations, database integrity, security, and modification rights.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of cloud infrastructure and database systems. Keeps track of available physical storage and initiates requests for new devices.
  • Controls data access and search strategies to cloud infrastructure and databases.
  • Maintains and establishes database and cloud infrastructure program log and definitions of data elements to prevent redundancy and coordinates definitions of data elements.
  • Enforces and establishes data standards and security procedures for both software and physical protection.

Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a technical major, such as Engineering or Computer Science

Work Experience

  • 4-7 years in supporting system applications required
  • 4-7 years in supporting cloud operations (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, XaaS, etc.), in general, and in AWS, in particular required

Skills and Requirements

  • AWS Certification (at least one AWS certification relating to architecture or engineering) – Professional level certification is preferred.
  • System administration experience with Red Hat Linux and Windows Server is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adopt IT core competencies of collaboration, customer focus, accountability, responsiveness, continuous improvement, trust and respect
  • Strong technical understanding of cloud architecture, networking, security, system administration, and automation
  • Ability to follow IT governance and processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system availability and performance issues
  • Must be available for rotating on-call duty.
  • Knowledge of UNIX Shell scripting, PowerShell, AWS/Azure command line interface
  • Expert knowledge of using Amazon Web Services
  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
