Job description

We’re seeking talented folks to join our team and help our clients succeed as well as become passionate about our platform. Must have experience reviewing and/or processing food and beverage invoices.  The position offers a flexible schedule and remote work.

The position requires weekend availability (4 hours every weekend), and a minimum of 20 hours per week during company core hours M-F, 8:00 am-7:00 pm ET. The maximum allowable hours are 29/week.

The Client Services Specialist role would be great for someone with restaurant or food retail bookkeeping or admin experience. Someone who is passionate about accuracy and is detail-oriented, a good problem-solver. The right candidate would be able to multi-task, be eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced industry.

In this role you will assist our customers by efficiently processing orders to transform them into products, quality-check prices, and packaging for our clients to assess their costs for inventory and recipes.

MarginEdge:  A workplace with purpose.

As a team built by former (and current!) restaurant operators, our mission is to bring operators the same energy, attention to detail, and passion that they bring to their guests. Our culture is deeply rooted in service, partially because that’s where so many of our team come from (including everyone on our Business Development team), but also because we believe it is just the right way to run a business. We design our software with profound empathy for the complexity of running a restaurant, and the goal of making the magic just a little easier for operators by taking the complex (read: very annoying) back office tasks off their plate, while empowering them with real-time data. We are venture-backed and serve 4,100+ restaurants across the US and Canada.

How You'll Add Value To MarginEdge:

  • Utilize [ME] software: Quality-check entered restaurant orders. Report software to bugs and be a team player by being solution oriented
  • Participate in Team meetings and Trainings 2-5 times a month
  • Be flexible to work on other projects for our customers and other departments as needed

To Be Successful In This Role You've Got:

  • Experience in restaurants or in the food & beverage industry is required
  • Restaurant Bookkeeping Knowledge
  • Familiarity with standard restaurant chart of accounts and bookkeeping practices
  • Knowledge of restaurant invoices and ordering practices
  • Collaboration
  • Ability to work effectively across the organization; seen as a trusted partner
  • Follow through on promised timelines and/or keeps interested parties update on progress if there is a delay
  • Communication
  • Ability to communicate remotely (Slack, instant message, ZOOM, Teams Chat)
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication
  • Focus communication on key issues and action items
  • Productivity
  • Find the right balance between researching issues yourself and escalating to more senior team members when the urgency warrants
  • Identify ways to accomplish the business objective with less effort
  • Regularly meet productivity expectations
  • To be successful in this position high-speed internet is required, and is the responsibility of the employee. Hotspots and poor connection do not meet the company’s requirement for high-speed internet.
  • Detail-oriented and Well-organized
  • Comfort with numbers (No heavy math here, but you and numbers should at least be friends.)
  • Pride in your work and desire to constantly go above and beyond
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving environment. We are a tech-company at heart and being able to adapt to change is a must!

What’s it like to work for MarginEdge?

Imagine the fun of a great restaurant - surrounded by a team of people (including some that you help to manage!) who care about hospitality, care about quality, and care about each other - then subtract the rigid schedule, drunk customers at the bar...et voila, MarginEdge!

We work hard, we work fast and we fuel our work with a commitment of transparency from leadership, straight talk and trust between teams. We believe that the best people do their best work when they feel empowered - so whether you are more comfortable behind the scenes working remotely, or you are in our office (likely eating a catered lunch from our clients) you get to work with your manager to call your shot on what works best for you.

And surprising exactly no one, we are obsessed with restaurants so most water cooler talk (virtual or IRL) will probably be about the pasta at our new client’s spot in the city or the burger we just can’t get off our minds from lunch last week. In addition to being so dynamic, we stay grounded in embracing a flat organization with robust opportunities to engage with C-Suite members about any topic you have in mind.
