Position Summary:
The Client Consultant - Large Group maintains and increases current Health Alliance group membership. Establishes a consultative/liaison role with assigned employer groups whereby this position becomes involved with and informed of the decisions related to any particular group's health care options. Works closely with assigned employer groups throughout the year to resolve their problems, answer their questions, communicate financial status, administrative performance standards and member satisfaction, present healthcare/benefit changes to their employees and provide them with updated informational materials and reference information. Performs all necessary functions to initiate and complete the renewal process for assigned employer groups. Establishes and supports partnership with Client Support and Marketing Client Development during the sales process to ensure a smooth transition for the new employer groups and its employees. Works closely with Underwriting and has reporting accountability.

Salary range - $20.24-34.15

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associates degree or three years of experience in lieu of degree.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Producer's License and Driver's License. Must have or obtain valid Producer's License in the state they are working and valid Driver's License within three (3) months of start date in position.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years experience in managed care marketing, sales, and/or service. AND One (1) year experience in public speaking, including presentations, question/answer sessions and client interaction. AND One (1) year of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to plan for anticipated needs and respond to market changes. Ability to communicate effectively with client groups and securing renewal contracts. Ability to negotiate effectively with key decision-makers. Must be able to project a professional image at all times and be adept at persuasion and direct confrontation. Ability to perform at a very fast pace and meet deadlines on short notice. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors, analyzes and reports the activities of competitors.
  • Works with Communications to create necessary group and member materials.
  • Manages the daily activities of assigned employer groups.
  • Responsible for developing renewal/re-sale strategy and implements account service plan for assigned book of business.
  • Serves as a sales consultant to existing large group clients, groups with 51+ employees.
  • Manages the external aspects of the group renewal process, including: handling requests for renewal rates and obtaining product-positioning data; working with the Rating & Underwriting and Retention Managers to determine renewal rates; and delivering and securing renewal rate agreement.
  • Schedules appointments, conducts presentation to explain renewal and initiate re-sales process.
  • Provides consultative review of applicable financial, claims, pharmacy and predictive modeling reports.
  • Assesses employer groups specifically to determine the appropriate products; (i.e., HMO, PPO, POS, multiple option or direct contracting, self-funding or fully insured).
  • Arrange presentation with employer group/broker/consultant to explain renewal and with employees to explain benefits, eligibility, network and value-added programs
  • Works closely with and develop strong relationships with department sales executives to ensure smooth transition from sales process of new account to service representative and facilitation of new group implementation process.
  • Develops strategies with Finance, Utilization Management and Underwriting to improve cost containment for each group.
  • Presents reports to appropriate clients with evaluation, analysis and trend reporting.
  • Participates in the development of new products and strategies to maintain and enhance Health Alliance's position in the market and consistently evaluates market conditions.
  • Assesses product needs for employers as economy and market conditions change and works with Director to develop new products and services.
  • Serves as the primary interface with consultants hired by employer. Assists with the processing of RFPs (Requests For Proposals) making assessments and advises RFP coordinator on strategies.
  • Becomes actively involved in community activities, including health fairs, relating to a specific assigned territory by participating in one or more civic organizations. Participates in State of Illinois meetings including giving presentations, Q&A sessions.
  • Establishes and manages relationships with Health Alliance brokers to maintain flow of large group resale activity.
  • Perform in a mentor capacity to Client Consultant ' Small Group and Client Support to assist with training on product development, re-sales strategies and overall educational issues.


Team members working twenty hours or more per week are covered by medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance.
