POSITION SUMMARY:

The CHR/EMS Tech./Firefighter provides the following services: Emergency Medical Care and/or transportation services for sick/injured persons when required, Fire Suppression of Structures/Wildland on Comanche Nation and/or Federal Lands when required along with lands not in Trust when called upon to assist. To assist Comanche Nation CHR Program when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Perform EMS care/or transport, Fire suppression (Tribal, Federal, Local) and perform CHR duties/transportation when required/as needed.
• Maintain the upkeep and maintenance of all EMS/Fire supplies and equipment
• Prepare and input reports to OKEMSIS/BIA/State Fire
• Utilize the PCC (Patient Care Component) form on a daily basis, HIPPA Security (yearly), CEU requirements/certifications for NREMT and State certification license.
• Prepare documentation of activities, narratives, and mileage reports for submission on a daily basis.
• Provide instruction and guidance on basic principles relating to accident prevention, communicable disease control, nutrition, child growth and development, CPR/First Aid/AED
• Cooperate with other community health and welfare agencies including Law Enforcement, Medical Examiner, other EMS agencies, hospitals, schools, and industries.
• Be available for Medical Standby for special events and activities.
• Transport Native Americans in accordance to CHR Transportation Policy when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: This position will report to the Programs Director; this position does not possess supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to pass an agility test as required for firefighting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will be required to work in all weather conditions, will complete some duties in a vehicle when transporting clients, administrative office setting will be utilized when completing the administrative duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimal 2 years' experience working in the EMS Field as an EMR, EMT-B, or AEMT.
• Minimal 2 years' experience working as a Structural and or Wildland Firefighter.
• Minimal basic office skills
• Current valid CPR/First Aid/AED card is required
• Must have a Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and be insurable under the Comanche Nation Motor Vehicle Policy.
• Must be willing to submit to and pass a background investigation and drug testing.

COMANCHE PREFERENCE applies in accordance to the Comanche Nation Human Resources Policies and Procedures. Eligible applicants must submit proof of enrollment with employment application to receive Comanche preference.

INDIAN PREFERENCE applies in accordance with Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC Section 472), Form 4432 must be submitted with employment application to receive Indian Preference. Non-Indian applications will be considered in the absence of qualified Comanche and/or Indian preference applicants.

VACCINE MANDATE: Per CBC Resolution 150-2021 Effective January 4, 2022 employees must be fully vaccinated by receiving one (1) dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or two (2) doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Religious and Medical exemptions may be requested and will be reviewed for determination.
