Clinical care accounts for a minimum of 60% of the CMIO’s work duties; administrative and management supervisory responsibilities account for the other 40 The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is responsible for: * Displaying a strong level of care during all clinical visits * Providing clinical leadership for health information technology at Venice Family Clinic (VFC) and provides clinical oversight of implementation and maintenance of the electronic health record (EHR) * Collaborating with the clinical, program and administrative teams to identify new interfaces * Evaluating existing programs and determining which programs and clinical interventions best serve VFC's health information system * Developing and implementing training programs with the Clinic’s EMR trainers to train all VFC staff medical providers on electronic health record and health information technology used for direct patient care. The CMIO functions independently on a daily basis and reports to the CMO. The University of California, Los Angeles is required to provide an estimate of the salary range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Salary offers are determined based on candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is 132,900.00-259500.00

Qualifications

Qualifications* Required Qualifications include: * Five to ten years of experience as a primary care physician * Board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med/Peds * A minimum of five years’ experience in a leadership position in a primary health care setting. * An active California Medical License and DEA license * Previous experience as a volunteer, staff member, or faculty member in a setting serving underserved people. * Ability to speak Spanish * NextGen Certified Professional * Knowledge of Health IT * Proficient computer skills * Previous CMIO experience * Informatics Certification Clinical and Administrative duties for this role include: * Providing direct patient care to adult men, women, teens and children (if so trained) utilizing the Clinic’s Electronic Health Record at least 60% time (6 clinical sessions per week). * The ability to manage a wide range of chronic illnesses especially diabetes and obesity. * Teaching and supervising residents and medical students. * Working as a team with multi-disciplinary staff, different medical specializations, mental health providers, other staff and volunteer physicians, and mid-level practitioners. * Meeting established productivity goals. * A responsibility for clinical vision and oversight of the electronic health record along with CMO, COO, and CIO. * Providing guidance and direction for EMR lead and trainers who train new staff and volunteers in the use of the EMR. * Collaborating closely with program, billing, and operational staff to identify new programs, evaluate existing programs and determine which programs best serve VFC patients health information technology needs. * A responsibility for leading the Venice Family Clinic Change Management Team to standardize use of EHR and other technological modalities across all sites and provide governance and change control * Ensuring Venice Family Clinic staff and clinicians are appropriately trained in use of the EHR to attain quality and productivity goals * Working with clinical and program staff and volunteers to evaluate clinical programs and optimize the EHR use. * Participating in quality assurance and quality improvement work. * Leading weekly change management meetings to optimize day to day use of EHR operations, changes in clinical policies and procedures and ongoing upgrades of the product. * Attending and participate in relevant team meetings and forums, to develop and incorporate improvements related to EHR workflows and programming, and priority setting. * Incorporating approved clinical protocols in the clinical workflows that involve the EHR. * Leading VFC’s implementation and ongoing utilization of electronic health records (EHR). * Optimizing the EMR and ensure that related regulations and best practices are met to ensure its ongoing development and full functionality. * Providing consultation for implementing interfaces and change projects that will enable VFC to innovate and improve care for patients and optimize staff and clinician experience . This may include patient portal, radiology interface, population health systems, and immunization registry implementation. * Identifying and implement EMR related change projects as needed * Representing Venice Family Clinic within the medical community, at conferences and give public presentations as needed.
