Summary
The Chief Clinical Officer CCO is a member of the Senior Executive Team, reporting to the CEO. This position works closely with the COO and effectively collaborates with other members of the executive team, taking a collective enterprise view to assure cross-departmental integration and cooperation. The CCO provides executive leadership and support on all clinical matters including:

  • Leadership and executive management to ensure that the mission, vision, values, and organizational goals are operationalized in all areas of oversight.
  • Partners with the VP, Care Management Leadership and Strategy, Data Solutions; Systems Quality Improvement; and Research and evaluation – creating a physician administrator dyad leadership structure - to assure each department and achieves departmental goals (OKRs) by providing clinical leadership to the Division and as appropriate assisting with the execution of all contracts to ensure that contract deliverables are met in a manner that is of high quality, timely, and cost-effective
  • Oversees the work of the National Medical Director (NMD), Care Management (CM) and through the NMD the work of CM’s Medical Affairs division
  • Provides clinical consultation and leadership with respect to Comagine Health’s internal health related policies such as those related to the Covid pandemic

Executive Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development, maintenance, and deployment of the corporate strategic priorities.
  • Encourages clinical Leaders (the Clinical Directors Team) to behave in a manner consistent with implementation of the mission, vision, values, and corporate strategies of the organization.
  • Models appropriate behavior, such as adherence to policies, demonstration of professional interpersonal interactions with internal and external contacts, and effective conflict identification and resolution.
  • Regularly and effectively contributes to executive-level deliberations and decisions.
  • This position is an excellent team leader with significant adaptive leadership skills, able to bring the best out of a team of capable leaders and staff by creating an environment to foster productivity and collaboration in a fast-paced domain that serves the organization’s mission. This individual will also lead a team that is transparent, and data driven, using continuous quality improvement and agile methods to test new approaches and pivot toward success.

Executive oversight of the Medical Affairs department

  • Executive oversight and coordination of work of clinical leaders across all Divisions including identifying connections between the clinical team and organizational needs and deploying the clinical team in support of these needs.
  • Stays current with the medical and health services literature and assures that Comagine Health’s clinical strategies are grounded in science and evidence-based
  • Coordinates with all clinical leaders to assure clinical alignment across our QI, Research & Evaluation, and HIT & Analytics portfolios
  • Partners with the Growth, Operations and Care Management divisional leaders and directors to provide clinical leadership with respect to product and business development, including assisting in developing and writing business proposals, outreach to prospective clients and other marketing efforts
  • Serves as the clinical face of Comagine Health to the community maintaining and nurturing relationships and connections, including participation with external committees and in Comagine Health’s Ambassador Program.
  • Provides leadership in linking the community-oriented, public health and health care delivery focused work of Comagine Health as a means of assuring that CH’s levers work in concert to improve population health.
  • Facilitates strategic planning and initiatives for all contracts and products and the department.
  • Serves as a senior medical consultant providing clinical and technical expertise in support of quality initiatives and working with others to provide strategic leadership for the development broader community ownership in states not currently served by such boards.
  • Provides executive leadership for the Integrated Care lever in the vision statement to assure that care is delivered in a way that feels seamless to the patient and provider, across the continuum of delivery settings and domains and over time. Information flows across the system and is available to patients, providers, and policymakers when it is needed to plan, deliver, administer, and support care. Physical and behavioral health are connected. Specialty and primary care are aligned and coordinated to meet the needs of the patient.
  • Assists in leading initiatives designed to further Medicare and Medicaid integration and with current and future initiatives and projects.

  • Understand and adhere to Comagine Health’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program and related policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required Education / Licensure
MD/DO from an accredited educational institution
Current, active, and unrestricted medical licensure
Preferred: Masters level training in public health and/or public, business or health services administration
Required Work Experience
At least 6 years of clinical practice experience
At least 5 years of executive level leadership within a health care organization, managed care organization, or county, state or federal agency that deals with health policy or public health
Preferred: senior leadership experience in a state or federal governmental agency that deals with health policy (e.g., Medicaid and/or Medicare) and/or public health
Required Skills and Knowledge
Strategic planning, business development, staff development and budgeting experience and ability
Exceptional strategic planning, program management, and large-scale change management skills with keen ability to develop strong consensus among diverse employee and interests
Demonstrated proficiency with Lean methodology, QI concepts and principles
Demonstrated leadership and vision managing teams, groups and major initiatives
Excellent interpersonal skills, with an open and collaborative work style and commitment to achieving ambitious outcomes
Excellent communication skill, both verbal and written
Operational expertise with a strong grasp of communications and marketing, learning and dissemination, program evaluation, budgeting and reporting
