Job description
Position : Chemical Technician
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Wage: $33.25
Shift: nights - 6pm - 6am; 3 on 4 off; 4 on 3 off
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Complies with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for safe performance of the work assignment.
2. Performs various manual or mechanical production and support functions by operating, adjusting and repairing the production and support equipment to meet customer specifications.
3. Receives, stores and handles hazardous and non-hazardous acids, caustics, oils and other process materials keeping accurate records of all materials received and shipped.
4. Monitors and adjusts wastewater systems and sludge removal for EPA compliance.
5. Advises management of any violations of environmental procedures regarding labeling, storage or spills of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
6. Performs troubleshooting on production and support equipment as required.
7. Performs preventative maintenance on production and support equipment as required.
8. Performs on-the-job training and development of assigned personnel.
9. Conducts inspection of in-process materials and finished product.
10. Responsible for replenishing supplies, materials and parts required for assigned area.
11. Performs record keeping duties as required under the direction of management.
12. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from the computer.
13. Communicates pertinent information to next shift.
14. Supplies and maintains required hand tools.
15. Performs clean-up, painting and housekeeping duties.
16. Initiates, reviews and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
