Job Summary

Directs the reconciliation of GL accounts, trade and intercompany accounts payables and budgeting activities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations ensuring that milestones and goals are met
  • Drives optimization and change initiatives
  • Leads and develops the team, to ensure goals are met and the team is engaged

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees the reconciliation of transactions across the general ledger and sub-ledgers, together with other accounts. Reconciles payments to ensure the correct transactions are reflected in the system. Investigates transactions & banking reconciliation activities to detect irregularities & prevent fraud.
  • Provides leadership to the trade and intercompany accounts payable, account reconciliation and budgeting functions for the Agency and manages the day-to-day operations.
  • Ensures department's monthly, quarterly, and yearly close responsibilities are performed accurately and timely in accordance to established policy.
  • Resolves payments or billing issues with vendors.
  • Reviews aging report to identify days payable outstanding trends and appropriate pursuit of overpaid accounts.
  • Evaluates existing AP, budget and reconciliation processes and identifies opportunities to improve or enhance them.
  • Creates, plans, and leads the execution of projects to streamline the AP, budget, and reconciliation activities.
  • Builds, documents, updates procedures that align with company initiatives and long-term growth strategies.
  • Collaborates on the development and adoption of new IT tools to increase efficiencies, in partnership with the Financial Technical Support, Business Transformation teams and Project Management
  • Responsible with the periodical reporting to MSC (USA) Executive Management and to MSC Geneva Finance Controllers. Responsible with periodical reporting as requested by the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Supports audits, by creating, maintaining, and supplying thorough supporting documentation.
  • Provides people leadership to the team, coaches, and provides advice and guidance to direct reports, to drive high performance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting, Audit, Finance
  • 5 years of progressive professional experience in accounting with a strong background in accounts payable and accounts reconciliation
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience in leading change and in continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Experience managing and coaching a team
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt approaches to the situation
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
