The Central Nebraska Veterans Home is gearing up for our next C.N.A. training class! If you are passionate about caring for others and you're looking to further your career, you have come to the right place. When chosen for the class, pay rate is $15.60 When the class is done and certification process complete, the pay rate increases to $18.807. This position will be understaffed as Staff Care Technician I while in training. This will be an all day (8am-4:30pm) course. Testing for certification will follow successful completion of the course.

Class schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Work schedules available are 6:00am-2:30pm, 2:00pm-10:30pm and 10:00pm-6:30am, works every other weekend

Examples of Work

Under general supervision of a licensed nurse, provides basic nursing care, administers medications, and applies treatments for Veteran's Home members within the scope of the Nebraska Medication Aide Act, State of Nebraska Nursing Assistant regulations, and Veteran's Affairs regulations.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Staff Care Technician II: Be at least 18 years of age, completed a state approved 76-hour nurse aide training course and competency evaluation program, and be listed on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry. Staff Care Technician I: Be at least 18 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; Nebraska Medication Aide Act, medication administration, and adverse medication reactions; regulations governing nursing assistants; practices and principles of providing basic nursing assistance; infection control practices; HIPAA regulations; abuse and neglect identification and prevention; safety principles; privacy and dignity principles. Skill in: providing basic nursing assistance, administering medications; developing positive relationships with others. Ability to: recognize adverse medication reactions and take appropriate action; follow oral and written instructions in exact detail; lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and push/pull occasionally up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis; frequently bend at the waist and neck and frequently twist at the waist and walk or stand up to 90% of the shift; interact with members and others in a positive manner and be flexible to meet changing demands of the job; lift, turn and/or repositions members as needed.
