JOB DESCRIPTION

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT / RESIDENT AIDE

Summary: Provides direct care to the residents of the community. Encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence. Reports to and supervised by the Wellness Director, Assistant Wellness Director or designated staff member in charge. Functions: POLICY/PROCEDURES/ADMINISTRATION • Maintains a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position. • Attends or completes 12 hours of in-service training every 12 months and mandatory scheduled meetings. • Documents incidents involving residents, including their care and continued health care needs. • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. RESIDENTS • Responds to resident call bells and pendants. • Makes rounds to check on residents as assigned during shift. • Assists residents with activities of daily living and independent residents as assigned. • Activities of daily living include, but are not limited to: 1. Bathing (includes helping in and out of the bathtub), toileting, transferring, and dressing (includes combing hair, nails, etc.); hanging up resident's personal clothing. 2. Administering CPR and first aid as needed. 3. Assisting to and from the dining room, and with delivery and pick up of trays. 4. Assisting to and from activities. • Obtains vital signs as needed and follows up with Charge Nurse. • Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents. • Assists with serving meals to residents in the dining room as needed. STAFF • Assists in training new employees. REQUIREMENTS • Must have completed an approved geriatric nursing assistant training program and/or comparable training and experience. • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods. • Must be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally and exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. • Must be organized, willing to work well with people and as a team player. JD.06 9/94, 4/12, 3/14, 1/17 • Must be in designated uniform during working hours. • Must be CPR certified. • Must have strong customer service skills.
