Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the School of Social Work is to advance equity, transform systems, improve lives. The School’s curriculum supports the mission and recognizes the uniqueness of the region served, including concerns for disadvantaged, vulnerable, and oppressed individuals, families and communities. Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues.

Position Summary
CARES Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Cares initiatives at the direction of the CARES Director. Program Coordinator takes responsibility for assigning project leads, mapping out project deliverables, moving projects forward and helping the Cares team run efficiently. While specific tasks may change from year to year based on changing contracts and grants, the program coordinator will supervise the programs, assigned personnel, and services provided by Cares. The program coordinator will assist the director with overseeing the implementation of deliverables identified in contracts with the NC Division of Social Services, and other community partners.

Responsibilities include negotiation, implementation, and oversight of the projects within a scope of work; personnel recruitment, deployment, training, and supervision (10 anticipated July 1, 2023); proposal development, submission, and management; fiscal management; and grant/contract compliance and reporting.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in project coordination that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse teams and committees.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Ability to implement the directives of the contractor as well as the expressed needs and wishes of the stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting facilitation.
  • Experience with use of project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required.
