OBJECTIVE: Provide assistance with activities of daily living to residents of Beverly Hills Carmel Retirement Hotel. Follow all policies and procedures established by Beverly Hills Carmel.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Supervisor on Duty

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in staff meetings and in-service programs.
• Function as an integral part of the staff using the team approach.
• Perform all job duties as assigned.

Caregiver Assistance Duties:

• Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADL) as listed on the Residents Service Plan. These activities may include: bathing, dressing and undressing, skin care, perenial care, mouth/denture care, hair care/shampoo, fingernail hygiene care, shaving, incontinence care, escorting to and from dining room/activities, reading to resident, writing letters for resident, and other duties as needed.
• Provide companionship to residence.
• Making beds and performing laundry services.
• Assist in meal service by serving meals, responding to resident requests, clean-up, and taking to on-site beauty shop as needed.
• Demonstrate understanding and supports Resident Rights by: providing for resident privacy, maintain and promote the resident’s right to make personal choices, reinforce his behavior to maintain resident’s dignity, and promote resident’s participation in activities.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, safe, and injury-free environment.
• Understand method to prevent on the job accidents and injuries.
• Demonstrating understanding of how to assist resident with O2 administration.
• Demonstrates understanding of Fire Safety, Earthquake Preparedness, Disaster Preparedness, and safe use of all equipment.
• Understand method for universal precautions. Demonstrates proper handwashing and gloving technique for infection control and prevention of disease transmission.
• Identifies therapeutic diets. Demonstrates understanding of the dietary problems of the age. Provides and prepares meals using principles of basic nutrition.

Job Duties - Assisted Living Care:

• Assist with resident showers.
• Assist with the laundry services.
• Assist resident by escorting to and from dining room and activities.
• Assist in dressing and undressing resident as needed.
• Will perform other duties as needed when requested by supervisor.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Employee must be at least 18 years of age.
• Employee must demonstrate verbal and comprehension skills to appraise and monitor resident care.
• Have a current First-Aid card.
• Must be criminally cleared by DOJ and FBI via the Live-Scan process prior to employment and pass drug testing.
• Use sound judgment in emergency situations.
• TB and physical clearance for reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, or grasping. How full ROM and ability to lift 50 lbs, or transfer using appropriate technique.
• Must have reliable transportation and be able to get to work on time.
• Be physically and emotionally capable of performing assigned duties.
• Maintain satisfactory employee evaluations during first 90 day probation period and annually (or more frequently) thereafter.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 5x8
• 8 hour shift
• Evening shift
• Night shift
• Overnight shift
• Weekend availability

• Los Angeles, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
