Summary
The Career Services Advisor performs career and job placement services, community outreach and works with the administrators and faculty members. Responsible for ensuring CIAT meets ACCET placement and graduation rates.

Responsibilities

  • Provides career services and assist students to be employable at the end of each program by reviewing, editing and creating resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile etc.
  • Develops and coordinates job search assistance and student workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills, and other related topics.
  • Track student’s career services and placement efforts in Career Portal and Dynamics.
  • Organizes and coordinates job fairs on campus and/or virtually and attends off-campus job fairs, invites employers for speaking engagements.
  • Supports students by facilitating, promoting and coordinating contacts with employers, recruiters and other resources.
  • Maintains and analyzes a list of all students with Graduation and Placement.
  • Collects appropriate placement forms in order to meet ACCET completion and placement requirements.
  • Keeps accurate and up to date 28.1s for all programs and report to the Vice President of Compliance.
  • Ensures Graduate Survey data is collected and analyzed from students graduating from classes and programs.
  • Ensures Employer surveys are collected and analyzed quarterly or as required.
  • Establishes partnerships with employers and community-based organizations for the purpose of enhancing and expanding CIAT.
  • Engages businesses in the community and expand job placement opportunities worldwide.
  • Participates in state-wide events related to career services.
  • Works in collaboration with the appropriate academic, student services and admissions advising staff to provide pre-college, transitional, and college and career readiness advising services to students/people in the areas supervised.
  • Collaborates with Dean of Education to build and enhance internship/experiential education opportunities to strengthen applied learning and college credit.
  • Works closely with finance department by accurately managing Federal Work Study programs.
  • Participate in the new student orientation each term.
  • Enhances and supports the CIAT's Strategic Planning, Academic Planning and Strategic Enrollment Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Compliance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum B.A or B.S or four years of related professional experience.
  • 5 years of placement and career service experiences.
  • Knowledge and experience with vocational school placement and career services.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must have a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Skillful in Microsoft Office, email, internet and other computer related areas.
  • Detail oriented, outstanding research and analytical skills.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Process tasks in a timely manner.
  • Capability to handle confidential and sensitive information, following confidentiality guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.

  • Ability to type, use a computer to search for information, and input information while speaking on the phone is required.
  • Requires daily use of a personal computer and related software applications at a workstation.
  • Requires completion of some tasks that require reaching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties.
  • Requires prolonged sitting and or standing at a workstation for 6.5 to 7 hours per day.
  • Requires dependability and excellent attendance records.
  • Requires travel to conduct CIAT business, as needed.
  • The employee will be required to compute simple to simple mathematical calculations as a normal part of this role.
