PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for providing eligible youth with age appropriate job training, work readiness skills and supervised meaningful work experience.
KEY ROLES

  • Recruits and retains 30-35 participants.
  • Conducts intake interviews with the Participant, identifying present and historical data that will be utilized for enrollment and case planning.
  • Determines customer eligibility for a variety of workforce development programs.
  • Refers customers to appropriate programs, agencies and/or resources. May refer ineligible individuals to other community agencies or resources.
  • Provides comprehensive evaluation of employment and training needs. Assesses participant skills by interviewing, testing and other methods.
  • Works with participants to develop individual training plans, engage employer placement contacts, and advising. Assists participants with job placement, including job-search classes, labor market analysis and employment contacts.
  • Assesses customer need, authorizes, and facilitates supportive services to assist in removing barriers that may prevent successful completion of the program.
  • Monitors and records participant data into case management information systems.
  • Provides counseling for customers with employment or educational barriers. May assess clients with physical or mental disabilities and make appropriate referrals to related services.
  • May facilitate group processes including testing, workshops, orientations and job clubs.
  • Maintains case files as directed to meet customer follow-up and program evaluation needs.
  • Ensures nondiscrimination and equity in the delivery of services.
  • Interacts and coordinates services with other local agencies and programs
  • Develops and maintains detailed files, complete with all intake forms and follow-up information
  • Maintains clear, chronological, and concise case notes on a weekly-monthly basis for each associate, outlining activity of and with the client.
  • Assists client in modifying patterns of behavior and attitudes by increasing an understanding of self and assisting to minimize personal problems.
  • Refers clients to BGCC and community resources in an effort to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Meets with the client on a regular basis to review their progress, modify plans for services, and assess the client's goals.
  • Maintains open communication with school officials, family members, and employers to aid in case planning and follow-up.
  • Works with Boys & Girls Clubs staff to plan and prepare programs that promote educational, employment and personal growth of the participants.
  • Follows all Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago policies and procedures related to member care and employee conduct.
  • Meets appointments and deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:*

  • Bachelors degree in human services related field preferred or a combination of education/experience
  • 3+ years of experience in workforce development or related-field
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work with inner-city youth and adults and utilize community resources.
  • Must have the ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, associates, clients and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete documentation and an efficient record keeping system.
  • Ability to advocate for participant needs and negotiate for appropriate services.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to continuously stand, walk or sit. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Will require some local travel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $45,500.00 per year
