JOB SUMMARY

The Card Services Specialist performs a variety of ATM/debit/credit card related functions and performs as back-up in the absence of the Card Manager. The position requires interaction with staff and management from a variety of departments. The CSS versed in and actively supports the credit union’s mission and core values.

ORGANIZATIONAL STANDARDS

An energetic, self-motivated, enthusiastic, “team player” to represent our credit union with members, prospective members, other staff and the community of Downey; while exercising sound business judgment, maintain a professional appearance and displaying a positive attitude.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves as back-up liaison between Co-Op (ATM/Debit/Credit) and Harland Clarke/Liberty (Check & Card Orders) whenever it is necessary to perform the routine tasks to accomplish accurate member transactions.

2. Processes ATM/Debit/Credit Card disputed transactions.

3. Processes returned ATM deposits and adjustments using myCOOP.

4. Assists FSRs with member and card related questions concerning card issues and disputes.

5. Makes authorized provisional credit adjustments to members’ accounts as approved by management.

6. Processes credit card payment reversals using Springboard.

7. Processes Social Security Administration Form 4641 requests for members’ account balances.

8. Monitors dispute information and replies via COOP’s Dispute Resolution Center.

9. Properly charges member’s accounts, sends member notifications, and balances to the appropriate general ledger.

10. Completes processing of daily Symitar ATM reports. Using mismatch and exception reports posts any outstanding transactions to members’ accounts.

11. Receives and monitors fraud alerts from COOP and takes appropriate action, if necessary.

12. Reports equipment problems/malfunctions to appropriate department.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supports the credit union’s community engagement efforts through participation in on-site and off-site special events hosted by our Marketing Department and various community organizations.

2. Responsible for compliance to the Bank Secrecy Act, which includes the Customer/Member Identification requirements for new members, Anti-Money Laundering requirements, and the requirements of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Compliance to the regulation involves the gathering of information needed to ensure the timely and accurate filing of Currency Transaction Reports, reporting of suspicious activity involving members, non-members and credit union staff, and other suspected money laundering activities.

3. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the features and benefits of all credit union products and services in order to offer the most appropriate products to members. Keeps abreast of marketing promotions and educates members on new credit union benefits and offerings.

4. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that govern credit union operations.

5. Ensures compliance with all credit union member service standards. Performs all member related functions and activities in accordance with superior member service. Promotes a retail sales environment by selling all credit union products and services.

6. Employs analytical reasoning to identify opportunities and threats to both members and credit union.

7. Willingly accepts the direction given by management in order to meet the goals established by the Board of Directors.

8. Service the membership and maintain a positive attitude within the office at all times.

9. Maintains individual and department work area in a secure and orderly manner.

MINIMUM EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to be bonded.
  • Acceptable communication skills. (Verbal and written)
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to use office machines as required for the position and understands EDP concepts.
  • High school graduate; secondary education preferred.
  • One year of credit union or banking experience.
  • Knowledge of basic computer software (Word, Excel).
