Northwest Permanente, P.C. is recruiting a full-time BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician to join the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) team within Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Northwest Permanente is a self-governed (physician-led), multi-specialty group of 1,500 physicians, surgeons, and clinicians, caring for 630,000 members in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH) is the top ranked Children’s Hospital in Oregon, with a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, a full range of pediatric subspecialties, and pediatric residency program. DCH is part of OHSU, a nationally ranked research institution and the only public academic medical center in Oregon. DCH provides care to families throughout Oregon and the surrounding states.

Interested candidates will have an opportunity to join two CAP physicians and a team of social workers at DCH. The SCAN team activities include:

• Medical evaluations of suspected victims of child maltreatment within the inpatient, emergency department and clinic settings at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
• Regular peer review with CAP colleagues throughout the state
• Education of fellows, residents and medical students as well as community partners
• Participation in county and state multidisciplinary teams and fatality review committees
• Court testimony
• Participation in research and quality improvement initiatives

Additionally, the SCAN team provides outpatient medical evaluations as part of the CARES Northwest child advocacy center in Portland. CARES Northwest is a collaborative community-based medical program for the assessment, treatment and prevention of child abuse, serving over 7000 children annually. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with CAP physicians and other medical providers, forensic interviewers, Family Support services and the TF-CBT team.
