YWCA Greater Los Angeles Sexual Assault Crisis Services Campus Sexual Assault Counselor/Advocate will provide emergency and ongoing support services and assistance to partner organization (Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention and Services at University of Southern California Student Health) and serve students who are the victims of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment and human sex trafficking, with a specific focus on the LGBTQ+ student population. This position will, on a contract basis, coordinate 24-hour sexual assault crisis intervention response services on campus in collaboration with on-campus and off-campus partners.

The YWCA Greater Los Angeles Sexual Assault Crisis Services program supports anyone affected by sexual violence. We honor and respect the diversity of their stories and empower those who have broken their silence.

·Ensure victims/survivors/complainants, with their consent, receive information about 24 hour-a-day campus sexual violence and gender-based violence assistance/supportive services such as:

· How to report sexual violence and sexual misconduct to law enforcement/campus police and to a campus Title IX Coordinator.

· Emergency medical care, including follow-up medical care, as requested.

· Medical, forensic, or evidentiary examinations.

· Crisis intervention and ongoing sexual assault counseling and support.

· Victim rights and options, including referrals to additional support services.

· Legal services and the availability of restraining orders and/or no-contact orders.

·Ensures all information and material for individuals served is secure, safe, and confidential

·Provides 80% of staff time in direct service activities as defined by position work plan.

·Evaluates and documents participant’s progress.

·Provides support services to participants as appropriate, to include but not limited to information and referral, advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention.

·Assists in the design of programs in order that the needs of the population served are met.

·Assists in the gathering of information about the needs of the student population. Makes recommendations for program implementation and/or training.

·Assists in the evaluation of the program, to include but not limited to preparation of written reports and collection and analysis of program statistics.

·Reports accurate information pertaining to program design, planning, and implementation to YWCA Director, Sexual Assault Crisis Services, and USC RSVP Director and Assistant Director, and Counseling and Mental Health (CMH) Director.

·Assists in the supervision of direct service volunteers assigned to the campus program.

·Maintains Association and campus partner required statistical reports.

·Attends Association meetings as directed.

·Assists in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities that promote the Mission of the YWCA GLA within the context of the Association’s Strategic Plan.

·Collaborates with campus and community partners for rape prevention and education programs on campus.

·Guides those who request assistance through the reporting and legal processes of a campus adjudication system, criminal justice system and/or civil justice system.

·Guides those who request assistance through the on and off campus processes related to counseling, administrative needs, medical and health needs, academic accommodations, or educational needs.

·Attend as an advisor/advocate, at their request, any campus adjudication, criminal justice system and/or civil justice system proceeding related to the incident of sexual violence/misconduct.

·Assist with arranging transportation and emergency support services, as appropriate.

·Maintain privacy and confidentiality.

·Performs other duties and assignments as necessary.

·Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

·BA degree in social services or related field and/or three years paid or volunteer experience working in community-based programs.

·California Certification for Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor Training and California Certification for Domestic Violence Advocates. Current certification required or must be obtained as a condition of continued employment.

·Ability to work with a diverse array of individuals, and experience with LGBTQ+ individuals who have experienced sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment, human sex trafficking and/or gender-based violence.

·Ability to handle difficult situations and use good judgment within crisis and advocacy situations.

·Able to effectively use independent judgment and make professional decisions and recommendations in situations that require highly individualized planning in effectively advocating for the victim/survivor/complainant.

·Advanced experience in speaking in front of diverse audiences and the ability to adapt materials quickly so that the audience can understand the concepts being presented.

·Exercises mature professional judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of advocacy skills.

Specialized Qualifications

·Three years volunteer or paid experience in delivery of activities that address the empowerment of survivors of gender- and/or power-based harm.

·Certified as a Sexual Assault Counselor.

·Experience working with or on community college or universities settings.

·Experience or willingness to working with law enforcement.

·Familiarity with Title IX processes.

·Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
