General Job Description and Requirements

Camp Counselors will be under the supervision of the Recreation Program Manager and Day Camp Supervisor. He/She will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and supervising a variety of activities and programs for children in summer camp programs. This person may also be called upon to assist with special events held throughout the summer.

Additional job responsibilities include program planning, equipment inventory, light cleaning, facility supervision, and general office procedures. A week of orientation and training will give this person a clear understanding of the Waterville Valley Recreation Department’s overall mission, values, goals, and procedures.

Applicant should be capable of strenuous physical activity and enjoy the outdoors as many of the programs are active in nature and relate to the outdoors. General knowledge of sports and games is preferred. Skills in other program areas, such as arts & crafts and music is helpful.

Our Camp Counselors have a positive attitude and are enthusiastic, understanding, and creative. They are capable of leading and working with all age groups from 5-12 years old. Flexibility, pleasant personality, good organizational skills and ability to meet and deal with the public are a must.

Applicant must be able to walk, run, stand, stoop, kneel, lift up to 25 pounds, speak English clearly, and be able to see.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour

Experience:

• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
