Summary: Performs cashiering duties including cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, accurately giving change, counting cash receipts and filling out cash reports. May perform general food service work involving the preparation and service of food. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service, and dining room facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carefully enters all sales into the cash register to ensure that all purchases are accurately recorded.
• Makes change, accepts declining balance cards, and other acceptable forms of payment, and issues receipts to customers.
• Follows standard procedures for issuing cash refunds.
• Performs sales transactions in a reasonable and timely fashion.
• Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and service oriented manner.
• Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards.
• Must have the ability to observe customer purchases in the cafe line and to differentiate between standard portions.
• May be required to replenish coffee, and clean beverage areas.
• May be required to replenish condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service areas.
• Mat be required to fill and keep pastry case stocked.
• Must interact with co-workers in order to assure compliance with company service standards, and company inventory and cash control procedures.
• Assures compliance with all sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements. Maintain clean and safe work environment; performs job safely.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to count change and use POS system.Ability to perform arithmetic operations involving all United States monetary units (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Must be able to differentiate between monetary units.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.50 - $14.00 per hour
