General Summary:
Unum’s Finance Enablement team has an excellent opportunity to work on critical Finance transformation work as a Business Intelligence Analyst II, Workday and Application Support. In this role they will be responsible for supporting Workday Financials and other core Finance technology solutions. They will use their technical and domain expertise to support Finance and other business partners for new developments as well as production support across a variety of Finance technology solutions. Their work will be accomplished with little to no oversight, they exhibit a proficiency with the tools and technical skillsets necessary for their area of responsibility. The ideal candidate will be passionate about partnering and supporting our Finance customers and we seek a creative and analytical thinker to help us solve our most challenging problems. This position will work closely with members of the team, other Workday administrators throughout the company, as well as other Finance/business partners for requirements gathering and validation. The ideal candidate will have the ability to execute on prioritized user stories and be a technical expert for Workday Financials.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experience with Workday Financials, API, BI tools (Alteryx, Tableau PowerBI) SQL, ETL, Data Warehouse
  • Providing customer service and support for Finance partners using Workday Financials
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in existing Workday Financials developments, perform build work as assigned, and assist other team members and core platform leaders with project management and tasks needed for platform enhancements
  • Conduct moderately complex data profiling and analysis to evaluate data sources to determine the best source for business information
  • Acquiring, transforming and translating data and business requirements into actionable dashboards, reports, algorithms or datasets
  • Performing moderately complex statistical analysis and presenting findings to guide, influence and advise leadership
  • Collaborate with data engineers and Finance/business partners to perform data validation and testing activities as appropriate
  • Continuously develop and build upon existing in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, company and competitor landscape
  • Continuously develop and build upon existing in-depth knowledge of data stored in company databases as well as emerging trends in business intelligence technologies
    • Works directly with internal customers to refine requirements and validate output to ensure solutions will meet expectations
  • May provide mentoring, coaching and developmental support to lower level BI Analysts

Job Specifications

  • Bachelors Degree preferred, and/or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with Workday required (experience with Workday Financials preferred)
  • 4+ years experience with demonstrated success at a BI Analyst I level or comparable data analytics related field
  • Demonstrated expertise with modern BI toolsets (Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis and data modeling concepts
  • Proficient in extracting and leveraging data out of data warehouse, transactional databases, object stores & API based environments
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Ability to embrace change, adapt to the unexpected, and focus energies, people, and solutions on practical and positive results
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to influence others using data and logic
  • Ability to effectively mentor others
  • Aptitude and drive to learn new technologies and analysis techniques
  • Strong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$73,300.00-$139,200.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including performance-based incentives, healthcare benefits, insurance benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
