The Business Development manager will enhance business services for the college that includes Cardinal Store (on premise and online merchandise) and facility rentals. The position is critical to achieving financial goals of the Colleges strategic plan. Immediate responsibilities will include planning and executing strategies for increasing non-enrollment revenue opportunities through enterprise auxiliaries, collaborating with Marketing, Athletics, and Advancement Services, and elevating the institutions exposure in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The Business Development Manager is responsible to the Assistant Vice President of Operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Solicits use of, and manages rental reservations of campus facilities, including athletic facilities, reception venues, and other meeting spaces to maximize rental revenue. Coordinates scheduling with Facilities, Information Technology, Campus Safety, and Visitor Services to ensure that adequate support and preparations are made for visiting parties.
  • Develops business opportunities and pipelines for non-enrollment revenue, including marketing plans, referrals, direct selling methods, and generate community engagement of on-campus resources.
  • Deploys sales tactics to increase retail sales for the on-premise store and e-commerce. Facilitate retail opportunities for Jewell merchandise sales with other retail vendors.
  • Interface with colleagues on campus and focus on innovation, licensing, marketing, partnerships, business intelligence, analytics, and constituent engagement to enhance revenue generation and constituent engagement.
  • Assists the Department of Athletics in soliciting sponsorship and partnerships for athletic events and venues. Coordinate retail and merchandise sales and gameday events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Operations.
Requirements
  • Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience serving in higher education preferred. Commitment to higher education required.
  • Experienced sales representative, motivated, and self-driven to succeed in a high energy environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate with others.
Working Conditions
  • Normal working/office hours and predictable attendance required.
  • Night and weekend hours are to be expected.
  • Flexible work environment (multi-modal)
Compensation
Competitive salary and benefits plus variable compensation based on a percentage of adjusted gross sales.
