SUMMARY
Assists in overseeing lesson bookings, reservations, sales and programing for the Snowsports department. Assistant Manager collaborates closely and communicates on day-to-day and season operations with the department Manager. Monitors lesson bookings daily and scheduling assignments for the Snow Sports Department as well as on-snow facilitation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Assisting in the hiring process and training of instructor staff.
  • Knowledgeable in snow sports programing and lesson content
  • Offers a strong guest relation experience through facilitation of lessons
  • Assists in organizing season-long programing such as the Explorer program and SnoPro camp.
  • Responsible for scheduling instructor staff
  • Responsible for instructor assignment of lessons
  • Provides guidance, advise, and support to instructors with Snow Sports lesson content and daily operations
  • Manages and facilitates on-snow lesson operations, coordinating guest and instructor
  • Responsible for providing quality lesson products through facilitation, knowledge, and management
  • Maintains positive, strong communication and relations with instructors staff
  • Works closely with on-snow supervisors in the execution of lessons
  • Serves as a liaison between supervisors and department manager
  • Assists in ongoing training, motivating, evaluating, and directing instructor staff
  • Assists in developing and maintain school programming bookings
  • Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related or unrelated to original position.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly manages 5-10 employees in the Snowsports department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Basic computer skills are necessary.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Full PSIA Certification desired, Resort Certificate for any used equipment.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a professional and courteous attitude toward guests, other employees and the general public at all times.

While performing the duties of this job , the employee is regularly exposed to outside

weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases, include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
