SOFT's client, located in Syracuse, NY, is looking for a Budget Analyst for a long term contract assignment. The selected candidate will be responsible for the reconciliation of actual costs to estimated costs on projects and meeting performance metrics. Will prioritize work to meet expectations and deliver results in line with customer and business objectives. Key contacts will include internal stakeholders including job owners, and managers.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile actual costs associated with projects versus the job estimates and formulate final bill for the customer. Will be responsible for tracking and meeting performance goals.
- Develop a working understanding of the applicable regulations (example tariffs). Will need to apply tariff rules to project work and determine whether costs are reimbursable.
- Identify, address, and resolve complex issues. Be able to analyze themes and trends from a range of sources and systems to identify opportunities
- Develop relationships with key internal stakeholders to obtain and share information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related area preferred and/or a minimum of 2-3 years of progressive growth in business support roles.
- Excellent Microsoft Office suite and other technical skills required.
- Knowledge of SAP-GUI and HANA-BI preferred.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to both internal customers.
- Familiarity with electric and gas utility accounting and finance requirements; knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation, including developments in regulation.
- Experience in utility service billing, business activities and systems preferred.
- Basic understanding of Relational Database Management Systems and related data management concepts preferred.
