Gardner Health Services is currently recruiting to fill a Billing* Specialist* position. This is a full-time position in Gardner's Medical Billing Department located at the Alviso Health Center at 1621 Gold St. Alviso, CA 95002. The Billing Specialist will process Medical and all Specialty (Dental, Optometry, ECM, BH, OB, Family Planning, Podiatry) billing and perform financial audits by verifying charges, payments, discounts and balances, and prepare batches for input into appropriate funding sources. The position enters financial and billing data (including electronic data submission to clearinghouse or from clearing house) in computer software and verifies data for accuracy. Classify, code, balance and input cash receipt journal entries. Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and make corrections as indicated, research and resubmit when applicable. Produce and review aging reports and perform collection calls as necessary. Provide customer service to patients and staff regarding all medical bill inquiries. In addition to fulfilling the duties of Billing Specialists, the Billing Specialist will also serve as the problem-solver and support for the other Billing Staff for difficult patient billing inquiries/complaints and unresolved billing denials. This individual will also be responsible for the training of Billing staff and clinic staff on billing processes and any changes to billing brought on by Medi-Cal and other insurance program changes.
The ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications of this position is listed below. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Two (2) years’ college or business school or equivalent work experience, emphasis in accounting is preferred.
• Experience with data entry and ten-key calculator by touch.
• Two (2) years’ experience in medical billing in a clinical setting.
• Experience and knowledge of medical billing/coding (ICD-10) and electronic medical records systems.
• Community or Public Health clinic billing experience, preferred.

Compensation:
Compensation and level of position placement will be determined based on relevant experience and education.
