OVERVIEW

Hunger Free Oklahoma is seeking a full-time SNAP Outreach Coordinator to join the Tulsa office in support of Oklahoma’s statewide SNAP Outreach Program.


The ideal candidate for this position would be passionate about engaging and working collaboratively with organizations, non-profits, government agencies, and other stakeholders by providing support through outreach, technical assistance, convening, research, and guidance, so they can better serve their clients. This ideal candidate is an effective verbal and visual communicator, facilitator, trainer, and presenter. They prioritize excellent customer service through thorough research and collaborative decision making to provide thoughtful, dynamic, and creative solutions. The salary for this position starts at $40,000 and is commensurate with experience.


WHO WE ARE

Hunger Free Oklahoma, a fund of the Tulsa Community Foundation, is a statewide nonprofit established to leverage the power of collaboration to solve hunger in Oklahoma by improving systems, policies, and practices, through facilitating public/private partnerships, and by providing backbone support to existing organizations addressing hunger.


Oklahoma’s statewide SNAP Outreach Program is a partnership between Hunger Free Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, and partner organizations across the state. The objective of the program is to increase access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by raising awareness and removing barriers to applying. This is done through the development of a statewide partner network of organizations that Oklahomans trust.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Bilingual SNAP Outreach Coordinator, who is based in Tulsa, OK and reports to the Tulsa Regional Manager, will primarily focus on supporting regional SNAP Outreach. This position is responsible for the following:

  • Build Expertise - Develop working knowledge of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and stay up to date on outreach best practices, landscape, and trends
  • Expand Access to SNAP - Build relationships with potential partners, assess readiness, and recruit statewide for the SNAP Community Partner Network; coach community organizations using standardized materials to build capacity for implementing their own SNAP outreach; provide on-going support and assistance
  • Support Continuous Improvement - Develop resources and provide services using best practices, research, HFO standards, and state and federal requirements; collaborate with training and technical assistance experts to collect feedback on tools and resources and integrate changes; find and elevate opportunities for growth in SNAP outreach and participation

WHO YOU ARE

To qualify for this job, you will:

  • Have 4 or more years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree; or associate’s degree with 2 or more years of experience in nonprofit, training, education, and/or outreach
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish and English

KEYS TO SUCCESS

To be successful in this job, you will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in MS Office Suite, and excel in the areas described below. Experience in adult learning, contact management, and the USDA SNAP Outreach Priority Areas is a plus but not required.

WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW

This position is full- time and based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role requires the ability to independently travel to Oklahoma City and sites across northeastern Oklahoma for up to 25% of working time and may require occasional evening and weekend work to support events and programming. Hunger Free Oklahoma offers a hybrid work schedule. Participating in the hybrid work schedule requires access to reliable internet and sufficient workspace at home to accommodate the HFO provided work-station equipment of two screens and a docking station.
