Kids Above All is seeking a Bilingual FCCH Education Coordinator for our Waukegan, IL office.

Job Summary:

FCCH Early Childhood Education Coordinator promotes the school readiness of children enrolled with Kids Above All’s daycare providers. The Education Coordinator partners with Network Providers to create individualized learning plans and ensures that daycare curriculum is culturally responsive. The Education Coordinator supports Network Providers in creating learning environments that enhance children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development and promote whole-child development. The Education Coordinator monitors and evaluates educational efforts, supports developmental screening, and facilitates connection to additional external learning supports as needed.

Essential Functions:

Technical assistance:

• Content development and consultation
• Maintains and disseminates knowledge of best practices in fields of early childhood education, early childhood special education, and early childhood mental health.
• Develops and disseminates information and resources related to early childhood to support daycare providers and staff.

Coaching and Mentoring

• Provides intensive coaching (individual or group) related to teaching practices as requested or assigned.
• Assist FCCH Supervisor and Coordinators in developing and implementing FCCH Provider training as assigned
• Provides skill development and mentoring to daycare providers in child development, curriculum development, program evaluation, and approaches to learning
• Provide guidance to staff and providers in obtaining certifications and competencies.
• Facilitate the development, implementation, and coordination of internal support or action plans with daycare providers and their assistants based on monitoring and observations.
• Provides ongoing quality assistance to address children’s challenging behaviors and sensory needs.
• Provides follow-up on behavior or developmental referrals, develops and monitors internal behavior plans, and supports data collection of challenging behaviors.

Teamwork: Communication and Partnership

• Communicates effectively to build trust.
• Works cooperatively with daycare providers and other staff to meet the needs of families and children served.
• Coordinate and monitor child and/or family referrals to early childhood special education or mental health services.
• Participate in early childhood mental health consultation sessions.
• Communicate regularly with providers, FCCH staff, and other departments. Attend all meetings as requested

Qualifications:

• Minimum Child Development Associates (CDA) or Associates in Early Childhood. Bachelors in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
• At least one year’s experience working in a home daycare or other childcare setting.
• Ability to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish fluently.
• Intermediate to advanced computer, internet, and e-mail skills.
• Have daily access to an insured automobile
• Ability to meet the needs of all children – specifically those with special needs, challenging behaviors, are at-risk of academic failure, are gifted, and/or from culturally diverse populations
