Job Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM - Monday through Friday.

Job Location: Gwinnett County

The base location for this position is: Norcross, GA

The Georgia Apex Project, an initiative from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is a pilot initiative to increase provision of School Base Mental Health (SBMH) services throughout the state. SBMH programs provide a continuity of mental health services to students and their families in the school setting. By placing mental health professionals in schools, SBMH programs increase access to needed mental health services, promote earlier identification of and intervention for mental health needs, and foster collaboration between mental health providers, school systems, and other community stakeholders. As a part of APEX team, who provide behavioral health support to children mainly at school, CSI will meet with youth, family, and school staff to provide community support. We are currently looking for a bilingual (Spanish) staff to provide support. Social service experience is preferred by not necessary. Working experience in customer support, student support, or volunteering experience at school is strongly preferred. MUST be fluent in English and Spanish.


Job Description:

  • Provide support to youths and families
  • Meet with youths at home or school to provide skill building
  • Meet with families at home or community to link them to community resources (job, Medicaid, food stamps and others)
  • Work with therapist to plan and facilitate meeting and events to provide mental health education and support
  • Assist therapeutic group activities during school breaks
  • Participate in various meeting with team and school.
  • Participate in PBIS meeting (participant schools)
  • Mental health presentations at school and community
  • Class observation
  • Maintain accurate mileage log and sign in sheet
  • Type progress note on time (within 24 hours)
  • Maintain update community resources for school and clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field; and/or in social services experience; Medicaid billing and service delivery preferred.
  • Must be able to write, read, speak and comprehend English and Spanish.
  • Must work well under pressure and act as problem solver and team.
  • Must be computer literate on Microsoft Office, Excel, Access and Windows applications.
  • Must have excellent human relations skills, having dealt with a variety of customers and employees.
  • Submissions to a fingerprint criminal background check whose results allow employment with the organization.
  • Submission to a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must understand and be willing to adhere to all team member policies, procedures, and processes included in the Team.
  • Handbook and the Patient’s Right Handbook.
  • Must have full insurance coverage on the vehicle used to work.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field; and/or in social services experience; Medicaid billing and service delivery preferred.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Care Logic or other EMR;
  • Is comfortable and proficient with collaborative & concurrent documentation;
  • Experience in trauma-informed care, or trauma related interventions and skills;
  • Some experience with children required;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to be flexible and work in rapidly changing environment-DBHDD;
  • Must pass criminal records fingerprint check.
