Job Description
Under general direction; coordinates benefits and insurance coverage for employees; administers coverage regarding employee benefits and vehicle/property liability coverage; provides information to employees. Performs other related duties as required..

Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATIONS OF TRAINING AND /OR EXPERIENCE :

Completion of a high school level education plus three (3) years of experience in insurance and/or benefit administration, or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the duties of the position as approved by Department of Human Resources.

Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of
employee benefit programs; liability insurance, techniques; departmental policies and procedures *; employee training and development, budgeting process; government structure and process. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, schedule or picture form; interview job applicants effectively; establish a friendly work environment; write an edit specifications regarding insurance coverage; communicate effectively; operate a personal computer. Skills in keyboard operation.

Description of Job Duty
The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.

Manages and investigates all claims, posts accident reports, completes first report of injury claims, conducts field surveys, collects data, writes reports; recommends revisions in coverage and procedural changes with regard to the administration of programs.

Assists in the administration of county substance abuse program; ensure supervisor compliance with policy and procedure; coordinate testing for new hires, random and reasonable suspicion; assist in organizing and conducting substance abuse training with qualified presenters; follow-up with vendor and substance abuse coordinators; verify billing.

Monitors employees benefits and liability coverage; insures employees are added/deleted from rosters as required; prepares and reviews periodic reports regarding coverage; meets with carriers to resolve problems and complaints regarding claims.

Prepares correspondence and verbal presentations to disseminate information to employees regarding benefits (e.g., new programs, changes existing programs, elimination of coverage, etc.).

Monitors the payment of insurance premiums by various county agencies; expedites payments to carriers; provides information on rates for budget personnel.
